Global Entrepreneurship Week
the world’s largest campaign promoting
entrepreneurship. Innovators launch startups that
bring ideas to life, drive economic growth expand
human welfare.
4. The initiative kicked off in 2006, launched by
former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and
Carl Schramm, the president and CEO of the
Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Since
then, it has grown to 135 countries—with
nearly 24,000 partner organizations planning
more than 37,000 activities that directly
engage more than 7 million people.

Since 2011 Center for Business
Communication «BEL.BIZ» is
the Host of the Global
Entrepreneurship Week in
Belarus. During one week each
November, lots of events and
competitions inspire people to
engage in entrepreneurial
activity while connecting them
to potential collaborators,
mentors and even investors.

7. Moreover, the Minister of Economy Nicolay
Snopkov opened the Week. He mentioned
that GEW is the best basement for new
business and creation of good economic
environment in Belarus
8. DURING THE WEEK:
Lots of different activities were held: Mentor
of the Year National Award where the best
and active mentor took the award from the
hands of the Minister of Economy, lots of
master-classes held by professional
businessmen and trainers.
9. NETWORKING EVENT
Networking Event is a part of the GEW and simplicity
and openness of the event make a very strong
impression. Participants were divided into several
groups were they talked about themselves and their
businesses identifying common interests and
common ground. During the event people changed
their seats several times that helped each participant
to get acquainted with as much colleagues as
possible. And when it was the time of free
communication many were talking like old friends.

12. SPEAKERS
During the Week more than 40 speakers from
the USA, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Belarus and
from some other countries share their
experience with the audience and young
startups. In 2012 there were not only
business people but people from education,
i.e., PhD MBA from Stanford University,
Burton Lee and CEO of Innovation
Management forum and co-founder of Global
Entrepreneurship Program to attract business
and global thinking in Swedish schools

14. SOME RESULTS
As the result of close cooperation and good impression
and image of the Global Week became the idea to hold
Garage48 in Minsk at the beginning of the 2013.
And there is one more example of cooperation
between foreign investors and Belarusian startups,
when mentors signed several contracts with
businessmen from Belarus after the event.
15. OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Global Entrepreneurship Week gave the possibility for
young generations to find themselves in business and to
create their own programs. This event is the best solution
for those who wants to create something new, innovative
and prosperous. Coming to the event and listening to the
well-grounded businessmen people enrich their knowledge
in the sphere of global business
16. INSPIRATION
As an example for young people
will be Jamie Dunn. Jamie has
successfully built and exited his
first Business, Co-founded a
substantial Youth Investment
Fund and is now recognized as
one of the Top 20 Young People
in the World, an award previously
won by John F Kennedy. And just
imagine that this guy is just 20
year old! Of course it is very
interesting how to organize your
business in young life!
17. VOLUNTEERS
And if to imagine what a huge amount of work
was done during the organization of GEW in
Belarus there should be mentioned volunteers
who helped from the very beginning till the very
end of the event because of high interests in their
work, responsibility and willingness to make as
much as possible to make Belarus better!
18. MENTOR OF THE YEAR
Mentor of the Year is the
first National Award where
the best and active mentor
was handled the award
from the Minister of
Economy. The winner of
2012 is Yuri Zisser- founder
and co-owner of the largest
online resource Belarus

19. THE CHILD PICTURE COMPETITION
The Child Picture Competition was in the end of the Week.
The main object for children was to draw an
entrepreneurship, to show what is that according to their
own point of view. And there are the best pictures drawn by
hoping future entrepreneurs!

This event was highlighted by many of Belarusian
mass media and none of them did not say anything

And one of the most surprising
was that BEL.BIZ/Belarus is
among 5 top GEW organizers
globally . Belarus is not often
among top countries in global
awards and ratings, and Belarus
along with UK is the only country
from the European continent to be
among top 5 countries globally in
2 nominations. The most
rewarding is the most grand-prix
of GEW: the list of 5 top Countries
of the Year globally!

Bel.Biz, Tatyana Marinich, was invited to
Stanford Engineering's European Innovation &
Entrepreneurship Thought Leaders is a weekly
speaker series invites industry leaders from
Europe's hi-tech startup, venture finance,
corporate, university research & technology
commercialization communities to share their
insights and experiences with aspiring and
veteran entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley where
she spoke about the improving the business
environment and the best results that were
reached by the Global Entrepreneurship Week!
24. We will not stop at this point and we strongly
believe that the next Global entrepreneurship
Week will be organized much better. We know
that our work helps not only people to reach
success in business sphere but the whole
country and our aim is to be the best of the
best!
25. One girl drew a dream shop. Adults became
discouraged her, saying that it is impossible.
Then she said, when I grow up, I'll make a
dream shop . You know when we were children,
we had no barriers. The word "impossible" did
not exist. Almost for all entrepreneurs that word
does not exist either. For entrepreneurs, for
people who are not afraid of change, who are
willing to take the risk and responsibility, who
know no borders, and boldly go forward. They
also dream, able to dream and, most
importantly, turn their dreams into reality
