INTRODUCTION
Sports is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in
which an individual or team competes against another or
others for entertainment.
Sports was introduced to develop the native games of
India during British Colonial period
This led to the successful Standardization of games such
as kabaddi and kho-kho.
Kabaddi is said to be the oldest Indian sport.
Hockey and Kabaddi are often assumed to be
the national sports of India.
Major Dhyan Chand is the father of sports in
India
Award is named after him to honour his cMajor
Dhyan Chand khel Ratna contribution to Indian
sports by Government of India
This award will be awarded to the best
