As a consultant I have spent the last 20 years developing my understanding of the greater demands from society for ethical business practices and how business can increase profits and gain competitive advantage through understanding the demands and communicating effectively with all stakeholders along with current and potential consumers. I have advised McDonald’s in Chicago and Marks & Spencer’s in London with regards to brand diligence and ethical trade strategies and how a corporate strategy in these areas will represent a long term competitive advantage as consumer demands change. During the development of standards, regulations and enforcement activities it was necessary to communicate with all interested parties in order to where feasible achieve consensus and ensure strategic ownership amongst all stakeholders. I have demonstrated highly developed analytical skills most recently in my Master’s Thesis concerning hostile consumer behaviour and previously in national and international projects where I have represented Norway effectively in a number of projects including research into health risks of consumer products, technical standardisation and general product safety. The provision of strategic compliance knowledge was a core activity in the protection and communication of consumer interests. Examples of strategic compliance knowledge where research concerning consumer behaviour and the characteristics of accidents involving consumer products.
