Work on your documents wherever and whenever you want!
The complete functionality that you know from Microsoft
Office or SoftMaker Office on your PC is now available on
your smartphone and tablet via SoftMaker Office for
Android.
It uses the Microsoft file types DOCX, XLSX and PPTX as its
native file formats. This ensures seamless file exchange
and enables you to edit your documents directly in
Microsoft Office without having to convert them.
SoftMaker Office for Android is the only Android office
which allows you to work on the go as you would on your
desktop PC.
You should not settle for less.
Intuitive use on any Android device
SoftMaker Office for Android
always provides an ideal user
experience, regardless of
whether you’re using it on your
smartphone, tablet or other
Android device.
It offers various user interface
styles and automatically enables
the style that is best suited to
your Android device.
Using it on a smartphone
If you are using Presentations on a smartphone, you will probably see the following toolbar at
the bottom of the screen:
The nine icons to the right of the separator open additional toolbars where you should find all
the commands you need in everyday life.
If you need to do something more complicated, the icon on the far left gives you the complete
functionality of our presentation software in a classic menu.
Using it on a tablet
If you are using Presentations on a tablet, you will probably notice the ribbon at the top of the
screen, which you may already know from the Office suite on your desktop PC:
For convenient use on tablets, we have come up with a practical feature for the Android
version: By tapping on the labels of the individual icon groups, you can expand or collapse
them. This enables you to just expand your most frequently used commands and make the
most of the available space.
Manually switching the user interface
You may like the minimalistic user interface for smartphones so much that you want to use it
on your tablet. Alternatively, you may feel that the automatically preselected user interface
style does not suit your device perfectly.
In such cases, you can manually switch to a user interface style of your choice. To switch from
the ribbon style to the smartphone interface or classic menus, simply tap on any free space of
the ribbon and keep your finger pressed for a moment. Then select the entry User interface
from the context menu that now appears.
To switch from the smartphone interface to a different style, tap on the “hamburger menu”
icon on the far left of the toolbar at the bottom of your screen. In the menu that now opens,
select Tools > Options and switch to the Appearance tab in the dialog box Options that
appears.
Manually switching the user interface
You can now set the desired style in the dropdown list
User interface.
As you can see, each style is also available in a dark
version that is easy on the eyes.
After confirming your selection, you will have to restart
the app. Presentations will then be available in the
desired style.
Tip: Do you want to resize the user interface elements and their labels? You can also do this
on the Appearance tab of the dialog box “Options”. To do so, simply tap on the User
interface size button and select the desired configuration in the dialog box that appears.
Selecting, copying and formatting text
When you double-tap on a word, it is selected and two handles appear:
You can change how much text is selected by moving these handles with your finger.
You can then format, cut or copy the text as desired. You will find the relevant functions on the
dedicated toolbars when using the smartphone user interface. These functions appear when
you tap on the third, fourth and fifth icons of the main toolbar at the bottom of the screen:
When using the tablet user interface, you will find the formatting and clipboard commands on
the ribbon tab Home.
Working with objects
To insert objects such as pictures or drawings, simply tap on the sixth icon of the main toolbar
at the bottom of the screen:
After inserting an object via the second toolbar that now appears, you can format and
reposition it as desired.
Convenient: To facilitate rotating or moving objects with
your finger, there are two handles above and below the
object frame:
Opening and saving files
Not only can you open and save documents locally on
your device with SoftMaker Office for Android, but you
can also access Google Drive and Dropbox.
It is really easy: Choose Open or Save as. A file dialog
immediately appears and lets you access both local and
cloud files.
Unlock additional functionality
SoftMaker Office for Android provides everything you need to edit your documents on the go –
completely free of charge.
Furthermore, a couple of fee-based functions are available: for printing, for PDF export and for
sending documents directly from the app. These functions are indicated by a small “lock”
above their actual icon:
To activate them, either enter the product key of your SoftMaker Office NX subscription or
purchase a subscription to SoftMaker Office for Android in the Google Play Store. Both options
can be easily reached by tapping on the icon of one of the fee-based functions.
