That funny-looking banana phone that
you’d probably remember from the
Matrix movies is making a comeback this
year. 2018 is another year for saluting
the ‘90s, and the Nokia 8110 (its o cial
model name) just resurfaced in all its
gaudy, fruit-committed glory.

HMD Global, which relaunched the
phone, certainly embraced the moniker
“banana phone,” putting the model out

However, this new iteration of the 8110 supports 4G VoLTE and features Nokia’s Smart Feature OS. One thing to keep in mind is compatibility, as Smart Feature is not an Android operating system. While it does support apps like Facebook, Google Assistant, and Twitter, it will not run other favorite Android apps. Nokia does promise to add other popular apps in the future, but this might turn o a lot of people. The phone’s innards come with a measly 512MB of RAM but showcase 4 GB of storage. It is a feature phone, essentially, so it would be unfair to compare the 8110 to current Android agships. Nonetheless, it certainly is a nostalgic piece that should get collectors drooling.
