Companies are increasingly demanding that Web applications "move to the cloud" to reign in IT costs, reduce server sprawl and perhaps most importantly, help to ensure that your infrastructure is tuned to deliver an exceptional end-user experience for your customers. The challenge is to reap those benefits while ensuring top performance, keeping IT operations and development on the same page, and delivering enterprise level capabilities and scalability.
Join 3 cloud computing experts Forrester Principal Analyst, James Staten; Savvis’ Chief Technology Officer, Bryan Doerr; and Gomez’s Chief Technology Officer, Imad Mouline as they discuss the cloud landscape, application performance in the cloud and successful cloud adoption strategies.
What you will learn:
* How to determine which applications are best suited for cloud deployments
* A game plan for cloud adoption for the next 90 days and beyond
* How to use Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) delivery models to test more efficiently and better leverage internal computing resources
* Which techniques can improve your lifecycle management of cloud based applications
* Best practices to ensure optimum end-user performance of your cloud environment

Position: 2 nd to last slide, not counting thank you and bibliography slides. This two-slide combo takes the place of a classic recommendations slide. Though it’s mandatory for all presentations, we do not mandate how the analyst balances between short-term and long-term advice, except that we would require that there must be some short-term advice. Narrative and flow: These are like recommendations, but we need to be sure they are very concrete and actionable. There also not meant to regurgitate everything you said … but emphasize the “not-so-usual” suspects. Your bibliography slide should identify those reports that will help them enact these next steps. The things in the short-term bucket are the things we recommend the client actually do as soon as they get back to the office – and we should build our content in a way that they will have a true sense of urgency to do those things. The things in the long-term bucket should be no less concrete and actionable, but are the more strategic actions that clearly take more time to bring about, and also (in areas where things are changing rapidly, like Cloud) when we think the world of “thing X” will be very different a year from now.
Business Challenges Need for greater cost efficiency without sacrificing control Unpredictable demands - Seasonal peaks Controlling server sprawl is difficult and costly. As more servers are introduced to IT environment, complexity begins to become unmanageable Just In Time Infrastructure – Many companies are ill-prepared to address traffic spikes associated with large marketing campaigns or respond quickly and proactively to unplanned marketing opportunities. Or, they overbuild their environments to address seasonality which is a waste of resources & money being that the infrastructure is highly under-utilized for the majority of the year….its a delicate balancing act and has historically been a thorn in the side of any business as they justify the capital expense of building out an infrastructure that is only fully utilized occasionally. With SAVVIS’ Open & Dedicated Cloud Compute platforms and our on-demand service portfolio we can effectively address this business challenge and help our customers to achieve cost containment. Furthermore, through our new Cloud Acceleration Consulting Services, we can help companies certify their applications to the Cloud which I will talk about further in just a few minutes.

Bryan, Some good talking points here would be the performance management capabilities at Savvis. * APM – Monitor and measure transactions through the application stack * Web Analytics – Measure the effectiveness of the content on your page and how well it is connecting with your consumers * Lastly, EUEM, with Gomez, measure the performance of your web applications where it counts, on your customer desktops. A good point to remember, Cloud can enable an exceptional end user experience but cloud alone will not guarantee it. Then you can hand off to Imad.

Key themes: Gomez covers the globe with the most comprehensive testing network We are where your customers are Talk track This is a visual depiction of our global testing network. You can see where our Backbone and Last Mile testing locations are. Our Last Mile locations literally span the globe and allow you to test and monitor from any significant location in the world. And it’s growing every day. You can use these for a combination of monitoring and load testing. You can’t see the locations for the virtual test bed because it’s virtual – i.e. location independent. And, as the blue areas indicate, we can monitor your actual end users literally wherever they are on the planet
Key themes: Using Gomez delivers measurable benefits and ROI – and here’s proof Talk track Many Gomez customers have measured the benefits of using Gomez. Here are some examples. You’ll note they range from business benefits -- such as a 10% increase in web site conversions – to operational benefits – such as reduced down time, reduced transaction times, and improved response time. This slide also lists some of the brand name customers who use Gomez. Notes to the speaker: These are actual quotes from actual Gomez customers, but the logos on the slide are NOT the customers who provided the quotes. Don‘t say that they are.
