PROBLEM
In the world 6,000 children die every day from lack of safe
  drinking water.

1.1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water.

10,000 million children do not to school from the lack of safe
  drinking water.
PROBLEM
2.2 million people in developing counties, most of them
children, die every year from diseases associated with
lack of access to safe drinking water.

Half of the worlds hospital beds are filled with people
  suffering water related illness.
RESEARCH
If you put a clean cloth in a cup and pour water in it, the
cloth will purify some of the water.

Women spend 200 million hours a day collecting water from
  water holes.

Only 10 percent of of our waste is treated the rest of the
waste goes into our lakes, rivers, and oceans.
RESEARCH
The five steps of purifying water that the
   United States use are: Coagulation,
   Sedimentation, Filtration, Disinfection, and
   Storage.
The water passes through filters, some of the
filters are sand, charcoal, and gravel.
Coagulate means to cause a fluid to change to
   a solid or semisolid state.
Sediment means matter that settles @ the
   bottom of the liquid.
Filtration means it’s the process of filtering
   something.
RESEARCH
Disinfection means with a
  disinfectant in order to destroy
  bacteria.
Storage means to store it in a water
tower, then sent to a factory to be
bottled, then the bottle is ready to
drink, and then the cycle starts all
  over again.

tap water salt water Glass metal
EXPERIMENT
If there’s salt in the water it will Most of the water is
     boil at a high temperature.
                                       poisons.
If there’s minerals in the water it
will boil at a low temperature.
If I was in a different country I
would boil tap water because it
     boils faster and doesn’t have
     salt in it.
I would boil the water in a metal
     container because it boils
     faster than glass container and
     metal conducts heat.
CONCLUSION
We learned about all the steps of the water treatment plant.
Water that is polluted can kill other people.
Only distilled water boils @ 1000C and freezes @ 00C.
Other water that has different physical properties boils and
  freezes @ different temperatures.
People in other countries are forced to drink polluted water.
