   matured

  local

  the	
   challenges	
   in	
   the	
  Vietnam	
  labor

opportunities	
  for	
  our	
  bright

  • 3. 3 ABOUT VIETABROADER CAREER CONFERENCE Founded  in  2004  with  the  mission  to  Empower  Vietnamese  youth,  VietAbroader   has   been   a   leading   student-­‐run   non-­‐profit-­‐organization   in   coaching   generations   of   Vietnamese  students  to  pursue  higher  education  in  United  States.  Our  flagship  Study   Abroad   Conferences   have   selected   more   than   25,000   excellent   participants   in   the   past  10  years,  and  thanks  to  its  continued  success,  we  have  become  one  of  the  largest   networks  of  overseas  students  in  North  America  as  well  as  other  continents. After   10   years,   the  first  generation   of   VietAbroader  has   matured   and  been   heavily   involved  in  both  the  local  and  international  workforce.  As  globalization  progresses,   we   realize  both  the   challenges   in   the  Vietnam  labor  market  as   well   as   the   endless   opportunities  for  our  bright  students.         As  such,  we  have  continuously  expanded  our  activities  to  other  fronts,  including  the   Business   and   Career   branch,   which   culminated   in   our   first   Career   Conference   in   New  York,  USA  in  2010.  Four  years  later,  we  brought  our  conference  home  for  the   first  time  with  VietAbroader  Career  Conference  (VACC)  2014,  attracting  more  than   6,000  interested  individuals,  selecting  250  qualified  participants,  inviting  more  than   30  profiled  guest  speakers  across  industries  to  coach  and  share  their  experiences.   VACC   2015   is   going   to   carry   on   the   legacy   with   advances,   from   a   richer   program   content  and  a  larger  network  of  guest  speakers,  to  more  intimate  interactions  with   speakers  and  greater  number  of  top-­‐notch  and  leading  participating  SME  companies   and  big  corporations.

  • 7. 7 WHAT MAKES VACC15 UNIQUE Target   different   needs   of   both   local   and   overseas  students   For  example:  Local  students  need  to  hone  their  resume   &  critical  thinking  skills,  while  overseas  students  need   to   learn   how   to   adjust   back   to   the   culture   and   be   informed  about  local  job  market.   Provide  trusted  guidance  resources  across  a   wide  range  of  industries   Professionals   working   in   different   industries,   alumni,   mentorship,  etc.     Offer   broader   perspectives   of   traditional   fields  across  different  industries   For  example:   Logistics   from   Electronics   Goods   industry   perspective   vs  that  of  Insurance  industry.   Branding  for  FMCG  vs  Branding  for  Pharmaceuticals.   Organize  continuous  series  of  activities  and   events  to  best  equip  our  participants   Including   Webinars,   Online   training   sessions,   Inspirational  Workshop,  Career  Fair,  etc.  
  • 8. 8   Selection  criteria:         • Have  none  or  one  internship  on  resume.     • Good  grades  >  7/10  or  3/4     • Lack  of  working  experience  but  participated  in  a  good  range  of  extra   curricular  activities/community  service  with  leadership  roles     • Show  serious  interest  in  career  choices       OR     • At  least  two  professional  internship/jobs   • Show  maturity  and  competency       • Good  command  of  English     • At  least  a  junior  to  be  accepted     All   conferences   organized   by   VietAbroader   are   selective   based   on   merits,   which   means  our  participants  are  chosen  via  a  thorough  admissions  process.   VACC  15  will  select  our  participants  based  on  their  written  essays  &  resumes   submission  to  effectively  select  the  right  candidates  to  the  conference.       TOTAL  200  participants: • 3rd  -­‐  4th  year  students:    180  participants  (both  Group  1  &  2)       • Outstanding   2nd   year   students:   20   participants   (with   great   working   experiences)   POOL OF PARTICIPANTS

LOCATION: GRAND HOTEL AFTERNOON SESSION Those   who   are   accepted   to   our   two   Conference  days  will  be  granted  access  to   Career  Fair.       (200  participants)       Otherwise,  other  participants  at-­‐large  can   still   attend   VACC   2015   Career   Fair   through   another   selection   process   by   submitting  their  resumes  alone.     (100  participants)       LUNCH BREAK – NETWORKING CAREER ADVISORCAREER FAIR A   highly   selective   session   designed   to   offer   excellent   participants   with   a   clear   career   choice  in  mind  to  interact  with  and  receive   career  advice  from  Mentors  of  related  fields. 1  Mentor  for  5-­‐7  Mentees.     Admissions:   Besides   the   VACC   Common   Application   and   resume   like   other   participants,   applicants   will   also   have   to   submit   additional   responses   regarding   their   thoughtful  concerns  on  career  choices.  
  • 14. 14 A DAY WITH YOUR DREAM COMPANY Post-Conference Shadowing Program MUST BE ACCPETED TO VACC 2015 + COMPLETE COMPANY’S ASSIGNMENT • VACC  organizers  will  utilize  our  closed  connections   with  long-­‐term  partners/companies  and  work  with   our  professionals/VietAbroader  members  in  the   network  to  come  up  with  lists  of  participating   companies,  tentative  date,  time  and  quota  for  the   shadowing  trip  for  each  company.   • Participating  companies  for  this  shadowing   program  will  give  out  assignments  (case  studies,   MCQ,  etc.)  or  simply  require  resume  submissions   alone  for  potential  candidates  to  complete  within  a   week.     • Only  one  assignment  is  given  out  by  each  company.   Each  participants  is  not  limited  to  numbers  of   companies  they  can  apply  for.     • VACC  organizers  will  be  in  charge  of  collecting   submissions  and  the  companies  for  evaluation  and   finalizing  decisions.   • VACC  organizers  will  release  the  results  and   contact  the  chosen  participants  for  the  program.   • The  participants  will  receive  further  instruction   from  the  company  after  the  Conference   (date/time/program)   A  post-­‐conference  program  offering  excellent  participants  to  visit  their  dream   company  for  one  or  two  day  to  gain  their  insights  on  daily  working   environment  and  company's  culture PARTICIPATING COMPANIES HOW IT WORKS Further  details  will  be  available   on  June  15,  2015  
  • 15. 15 IMPACT MEASUREMENT IMMEDIATE  IMPACT     • Participants  to  fill  out  before  they  leave  to  measure  the  immediate  impact  of  VACC  2015   have  on  them.     • Participating  companies  to  measure  the  numbers  of  new  obtained  employees  from  VACC       • Guest  speakers  to  improve  the  content  of  future  conferences.     VACC 2015 DELEGATES LINKEDIN NETWORK ONSITE SURVEY FOR  LONG  TERM  MEASUREMENT     The  Network  is  for  past  participants  to  join,  interact  and  keep  in  touch  with  VietAbroader  after  the   event.     Any  changes  in  their  profiles  (positions,  jobs,  skills,  etc.)  will  be  conveniently  updated  and  kept   track  by  our  staff    at  “VietAbroader  Career  Network”  to  measure  the  long-­‐term  impact  of  VACC.       The  records  of  participants  will  be  taken  down  at  3  period  of  time: • When  the  participants  accepted  the  invitation  -­‐  record  the  initial  employment  status.   • One  month  after  VACC  -­‐  record  down  any  changes  in  the  status  (first  job/intern/changes  of   job  offer  from  participating  companies  of  the  Career  Fair)   • 6  months  after  VACC  -­‐  record  down  any  changes  in  the  status  -­‐  track  down  the  participants   to  determine  whether  VACC  has  impact  on  the  changes.   The  LinkedIn  group  also  serves  as  a  network  for  young  working  professionals.  Members  can  post   job   recruitment   opportunities   as   well   as   receive   updates   on   their   fellow   participants   after   the   conference.
