1. Music magazine quantitative research
This is my research from my questionnaires I gave out about music magazines. I gave it to mainly 16-
18 year olds as it was my target audience, as teens are more likely to buy music magazines as there
students and will have spare money for items like this, also there more likely to be in to the current
music therefore having a bigger target audience for my magazine and is likely to appeal to other age
groups but mainly teens. My research is primary research technique which will generate quantitative
research and qualitative data.

80% of my research is still at college so they
won’t have a lot of money to be spending on
magazines and because of downloading being
very common with teens this makes them even
Age less likely to spend their money of something
they don’t need. Also with my age research

would not make my audience as wide and I
want as many people as possible to be

choose as well as I might go for indie rock or a
60% more male type of music.

How much would you pay
for a music magazine?
From this research, it tells me that 40% of the
people I researched would only spend £1-£2
£4+ on a music magazine but I have decided to go
20% for £2.99 as my magazine will include posters
£1-£2

4. Music magazine quantitative research
Overall, from my research I know is based on 60% males and 40% females, so I will
aim my magazine slightly towards males as that’s what my market research is all
based on. This affects the genres I choose also as I don’t want the magazine to be
solely for males as I want a big audience as the more people it appeals to the better.
The research also shows that 50% of the people I interviewed admitted to get there
music from a free download of the internet, this affects music magazines massively
as people are just doing everything online. To adapt to this I will make a yearly
subscription over the internet for about £20 a year and a magazine with posters and
other items will be sent to their house when a new copy is released, this means I will
also be targeting the people who don’t buy music magazine but are still into music.
The price of my magazine has also been decided on the age group that was the most
popular result in my research, as the age group of 16-2 will not have a lot of money
to spend therefore I need to make my magazine affordable to the younger age
group, which is why the price I have chosen is £2.99, I didn’t want to go to low as I
wouldn’t be making enough profit back.
