5. Kaiku is a web-platform that automates symptom follow-up and
data capture during and after cancer treatment.
The patient stays connected – anywhere, anytime, any device.
11. Why is data about patient’s experience
significant for better healthcare?
Patient-reported outcomes (PRO)
= PRO is any report of the status of a patient's health
condition that comes directly from the patient, without
interpretation of the patient's response by a clinician or
anyone else. (US-FDA)
12. Why are PROs important?
"After all, only the patient himself is aware of his
wellbeing and can report on possible warning signs,
while the doctor can use these reports to evaluate the
progress of the disease and treatments on the basis of
their medical expertise."

So how do we measure the patient’s subjective experience of the care?
The key word here is patient-reported outcomes. US-FDA defines PRO as ”any …”
Why are PROs important? Many aspects of the patient’s experience of the care are subjective, they cannot be directly measured. Studies show that the interpretation of patient’s account interpreted by a clinician is systematically lower than how the patient would rate themselves.
Next, let’s take a look at how outcome follow-up works today and see how well patient-driven follow-up is realized.
