2. What is Performance Evaluation
• Kollberg et al.defines performance evaluation as ‘the process of collecting, computing, and
presenting quantified constructs for the managerial purposes of following up, monitoring,
and improving organizational performance.
• Performance evaluation is an integral part of health care. Its primary aim is to measure the
quality of health services with the ultimate goal of improving health outcomes.
• Hospital performance may be defined according to the achievement of specified targets,
either clinical or administrative.
• If used effectively performance evaluation can result in wide ranging benefits for both
patients and clinicians by ensuring the best use of limited resources and continuosly
improving the quality of care.

measure that is used to observe, analyze, optimize, and transform a healthcare process to
increase satisfaction for both patients and healthcare providers .
These metrics are commonly used by care facilities to compare their performance to other
care facilities and identify areas of improvement.

6. Why any hospital Should Be Using Healthcare Specific KPIs
To provide the best possible care, ensuring optimal hospital performance, and effectively managing
occupancy and costs. To do this, most healthcare facilities have transitioned from paper to digital
record keeping.
Patient charts and records are now input into a digital database. This reduces the amount of “lost”
patient information and makes it easier for care providers to access a patient’s files as they are all
kept in one central location.
While this digital revolution makes things easier for healthcare providers and creates a higher quality
of care, it can also provide a quantitative analysis of the operational performance at a hospital .
Patient data can be extracted and transformed into healthcare KPIs that can be monitored on a
dashboard or provided to executives in the form of reporting.

2. Patient Follow-Up Rate:
Patient Follow-Up Rate (%) = (Number of Follow-Ups / Total Number of Patients) *100
3. Overall Patient Satisfaction: This is a healthcare metric that calculates patient satisfaction.
This can be a great marketing tool for our organization if satisfaction is high, if a low
