Texas School Technology and Readiness Chart- STaR<br />The Texas StaR chart is an online resource tool for self-assessment of GISD and Annie Purl’s efforts to effectively integrate technology across the curriculum. <br />It is aligned with the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.<br />
  4. 4. The Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology 2006-2020<br />Goal is to promote academic excellence for all students.<br />Looks at 4 main areas:<br /> 1. Teaching and Learning (Focus on learners.)<br /> 2. Educator Preparation and Development <br /> (Focus is on educators.)<br /> 3. Leadership, Administration and Instructional <br /> Support (Focus is on leaders.)<br /> 4. Infrastructure (Focus is on the infrastructure <br /> system.)<br />
  5. 5. Why?<br />To determine progress toward meeting the goals of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology.<br />To help meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Students must be technology literate by the end of the 8th grade. <br />To increase technology-based accountability through targeted planning and budgeting. <br />

Who?<br />Teachers<br />All teachers must complete the Texas STaR Chart annually.<br />This helps determine needed professional development in Technology at the campus and district level. <br />District<br />The Texas Campus STaR Chart produces a profile of the campus toward reaching the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology and NCLB. <br />http://www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart<br />The Texas Public STaR Chart allow all stakeholders to view the technology readiness of all campuses across the state. <br />
