2. I’ve conducted a survey to help me make different
design choices for my magazine to ensure it’s
success. This question asks what colours should
be most dominant in the magazine. The majority of
people chose the Red and Black option. I will use
this data to make the most dominant colours in my
magazine the ones that readers would want, those
being red and black.
3. I asked this question to help me decide an
appealing title for the magazine. The people taking
the survey chose Unplugged as the preferred title
as it relates to the theme of rock as the word
unplugged relates to unplugging an amp or guitar
which are used in rock music. I will use this as my
title.
4. From this question, I can see that there is not
much of a gender gap between the people who
are going to be reading my magazine. I will use
this data to make sure that my magazine does not
tend to one gender more than the other. I will do
this by making my magazine appeal to both
genders.
5. From this question, I can see that most of my
readers are over the age of 18. However, there are
still plenty of readers under that age meaning that I
will have to make my magazine suitable for all
ages while still keeping it entertaining for older
people as well as younger people. I will need to
keep my magazine friendly for young people by
not including any swearing in the articles and
cover lines.

7. From this question, I can see that most of my
readers want the magazine to be about rock and
metal. However, some also want the magazine to
have an EDM theme. I will make my magazine a
rock magazine as I can only use one genre as the
theme meaning that I can’t please the EDM fans. I
am trying to acquire as large of a readership as
possible meaning that making a rock magazine is
the optimal choice for attracting as many people
as possible.
8. From this question, I can see that most readers
would want to read an article about the history of
my featured band. This links to audience theory
and more specifically, Maslow’ Hierarchy of needs
which states that people have a need for love and
belonging. Katz’s theory of Uses and Gratification
also states that people have a need for personal
relationships. Making my articles about band
history fulfills these needs as it allows readers to
get to know the band better that they are reading
about. I will also include a festival guide for the
rest of the people that want to read about festivals.
9. From this question, I can see that most readers
want to see a large band photo as the
background. This also links to audience theory as
mentioned in the analysis of the previous survey
question. A band photo background would let
readers feel like they know the band better and on
a more personal level if they see a photo of the
band as a large background rather than, for
example, a picture of a musical instrument.
