There are two sets of drivers behind the idea of Smarter Computing; the first is the fact that the rate of change
in the competitive landscape is accelerating beyond the point where the traditional approach of “make do and
mend” is enough to ensure an organisation’s survival, let alone its profitability. Over the years our IT systems
have become complex and difficult to manage, and as a consequence IT is increasingly finding itself in the position of being a barrier to innovation rather than an enabler of it.
