7. MODELOS DE
MONETIZACIÓN
• Retail
• Pago Por descarga (Paid to Own)
• Descarga Gratuita
live arcade, steam, apple app store, google play, etc).
• Relación con los marketplaces
• A través de un distributor
• Directa
12. •7 de los 10 juegos top grossing son gratuitos
13. SI SON GRATUITOS, DONDE
ESTA EL NEGOCIO
• Trial (versión lite)
• Suscipciones
• Publicidad
• Bienes Virtuales
14. MODELO GRATUITO /
FREEMIUM
• ¿Que es el modelo Freemium?
• ¿De donde viene este modelo?
• Cual es el gol
• Que se puede vender en este modelo
• Contenidos adicionales (ej. niveles)
• Funcionalidades avanzadas
• Bienes virtuales
15. Los juegos free-to-play generalmente
venden “tiempo”
“the desire to progress faster is the number one reason players
spend money in a social game.”
16. FACTORES CLAVE - FREEMIUM
• Poder hacer experimentos (A/B testing)
17. Retención
“The longer a user plays, the more likely they will pay. And the best way to retain
consumers is to get them to pay, which is why it's important to know the right time to
upsell (which is different for each game).”
• 1 Day Retention - Number of
players who come back to play
the game the day after initial
registration.
• 7 Day Retention - Number of
players who are still playing the
game 7 days after registration.
Good indication of stickiness.
21. ADQUISICION VIRAL
Viralidad - aspectos sociales
Reduce el costo de adquisición de usuarios.
K-Factor - Basic virality.
bueno.
Es IMPOSIBLE lograr una economía
perfecta antes de lanzar el juego.
Es necesario: Medición, análisis, actualización basado
en métricas, adquisición constante de usuarios
debido al “churn”.
31. IMPORTANTE: CONSTRUIR UN MODELO
ECONÓMICO QUE CONTEMPLE TODOS LOS
COSTOS DE MANTENIMIENTO DEL PRODUCTO.
“With cost per acquisition (CPA)
to bring players into F2P games on
the rise, it's critical to continually
evaluate whether players' lifetime
value (LTV) is higher than the
game's CPA.”
32. COSTOS A CONSIDERAR
- Servidores (cloud computing)
- PR y mercadeo
- Mantenimiento de la comunidad
- Costo de herramienta analytics (Flurry-Gratis; Kontagent-
Costoso)
- Deducciones: plataforma de pago (Amazon, Paypal, etc),
plataforma distribución (30%).
33. CONCEPTO IMPORTANTE:
“ITERACIÓN”
Jesse Janosov - IGDA Leadership forum
“La mayoría de los juegos en el top grossing les tomó unos
17 meses llegar ahí...”
“It’s a live service”
“monitorea e itera rápido”
“prueba distintos enfoques, demográficos, etc...”

34. GLOSARIO DE TÉRMINOS
BÁSICOS
• MAU - Monthly Average Users. Number of players who log into the game at least once per month.
• DAU - Daily Average Users. Average number of players that log into the game daily.
• DAU as Percentage of MAU - This is a strong indicator of how popular the game is. A good game has a
MAU/DAU of 20-30%.
• ARPU - Average Revenue Per User. Total revenue divided by total number of users. A strong ARPU is .
25+.
• ARPDAU - Average Revenue Per Daily Average User. Total revenue divided by daily average users.
• ARPPU - Average Revenue Per Paying User. This is the average of all paying users. Games like Dragons of
Atlantis or War Commander have high ARPPU's.
• Cohort - Sets of players grouped together based on commonalities. An example cohort would be: 28
year old males whose ARPPU is $7.00.
35. GLOSARIO DE TÉRMINOS
BÁSICOS
• 1 Day Retention - Number of players who come back to play the game the day after
initial registration.
• 7 Day Retention - Number of players who are still playing the game 7 days after
registration. Good indication of stickiness.
• Engagement - Average amount of time users are spending in the game in a sitting.
• Churn - Number of players leaving the game and don’t come back. Analyzing the churn
points in a game and making adjustments are important for long term retention at
profitability.
• K-Factor - Basic virality. A K-Factor of 1 means every player is bringing in at least 1 other
person into the game through the games social features.
