  13. 13. BAWI 2022 Some key learnings from Day 1 • The importance of BA Planning (and Monitoring) • Stakeholders before requirements; Planning the process and the governance before starting • Specify and Model Requirements • Assure the stakeholders that we are not forgetting things; Where we also put our brain as BA; Base for discussion with the stakeholders (co- designing/feedbacks/prevention) • The requirements category used as a framework for collecting and mapping requirements • The Babok Guide as a «lighthouse» for the growth of Business Analysts • The importance of the holistic approach of the Babok Guide (BACCM) • In the Solution part of the BACCM, the BA must be prepared to collaborate with the technical people • Strategy Analysis: used as a guideline for making strategic decisions • Context more complex today – business agility as a new paradigm; professionals must have a continuos learning and growth mindset; BA competencies are becoming more important for managing the complexity • The Babok Guide to foster Innovation: a framework for guiding the creative process; the pre-during-post phases to focus decision making throughout the entire innovation endeavour Important role for IIBA Italy Chapter

  16. 16. Panel with • Judy Munro: Senior Managing Director of Robert Half Executive Search • Michael Augello: Senior Advisor • Harold Broos: President of IIBA Toronto Chapter 1. How is relevant Business Analysis in your country? Why companies are investing on it? 2. What type of Business Analysts are the organizations most asking in these days? What competencies are the organizations searching, nurturing? • Are Business Analysis certifications requested? 3. Speaking about the Babok Guide, do you have evidence that it is requested/used by the organizations/professionals in your country?
  17. 17. In memory of Ken Fulmer Ciao Ken
  18. 18. BAWI 2022 Some key learnings from Day 2 • Measures are hidden everywhere in the Babok Guide • Planning, Elicitation, Specify and Model requirements, Verify/Validate Requirements, Solution Evaluation, … • Requirements must always be linked to their measures to be really effective – this link should be more evident in the Babok • BA from the world: • The Babok is well recognized by the organizations in USA, Canada, Australia • Organizations value Business Analysis to manage the complexity • The speakers reported that for some organizations the Business Analysts are requested to play also the role of Project Managers and/or Scrum Masters in agile projects • For Junior and Intermediate level BA’s, organizations require BA’s and technicals competencies (mostly on Digital Transformation, CRM, ERP, Cloud) – the technical side tends to disappear for Senior BA’s • Importance of Monitoring to discover and anticipate to the Stakeholders the project deviation/failure – should go together with Leadership and Decision Making competencies for communicating strongly the risk of failure for an initiative and provide support in making the right decisions to correct the deviations • Data are requirements and also part of the requirements itself, should be connected somehow with measures • The holistic view of the BACCM should be considered not only on the six dots, but also on the 15 connections • The BACCM applied to the Brexit case show some flaws made with this decision • The Solution Evaluation area should contain a task called ‘Provide support in Value Creation’ – this task is actually missing
