UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS (KS) INTERNATIONAL MERIT
SCHOLARSHIPS
The University of Kansas offers an international student scholarship that
is available to students applying from outside the USA or already studying in the USA in any
nonimmigrant status. The KU International Merit Award is a competitive, renewable, merit-based
award that ranges from $4,000 to $10,000 per year.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA (MN) NEED-BASED SCOLARSHIPS
The University of Minnesota now offers various need-based scholarships to
international undergraduate students. Awards currently range from $1,200 to
$5,000 per year (4,800 - 20,000 over four-year award period). Students are
required to submit an application form and essay for consideration.
Applications for need-based scholarships must be completed no later than
February 1, 2014 for 2014-2015 awards. To be eligible for scholarship consideration, students must
also complete their application for admission by the priority deadline (December 16, 2013 for
freshman applicants, transfer admission deadlines vary). Recipients of awards are notified via email

WOMEN'S SUMMER INSTITUTE
This July, GW will offer the Global Women’s Summer Institute for
undergraduate students, focused on issues of gender and the status of
women around the world. Students enroll in two courses: one in-classroom,
focused on global gender studies theory, and the second, an experiential
learning opportunity where students learn how to run an advocacy campaign for a local organization.

5. PITTSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY (KS) OPENS MARCH 2014
INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM ENROLLMENT
The March session of IEP is 8-weeks, starting on March 6, 2014 and
ending on May 9, 2014.
The tuition and fees for this one 8-week session is $2889. Additional expenses include living costs,
insurance and books. On-campus housing and meal plans are available at an additional cost.
IEP students have full access to all campus facilities, services and events, including the Student
Recreation Center and Student Health Services.
PSU will pick up IEP students free of charge from the Joplin Regional Airport (JLN) on March 3-5.
Orientation will begin on March 6.
Students may apply online and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee.
The mission of the Intensive English Program at Pittsburg State University is to help international
students to achieve their academic and professional goals through the development of their English
language skills. All members of the Intensive English Program faculty hold at least a master's
degree in teaching English as a foreign language. Many of the instructors have teaching experience
both in the United States and overseas. Most faculty members have successfully mastered a
foreign language, making them aware of the language learning process that their students face.
IEP offers sessions every 8-weeks, in January, March, June, August, and October. Classes are
offered at six levels, from beginning to advanced.
