This document discusses the commercial distribution of an ECF-ITM vaccine in East Africa and Malawi by an organization called GALVmed. It notes challenges to developing and distributing animal health products like lack of funding, poor field trials, and inconsistent supply. GALVmed aims to overcome these challenges by creating partnerships to provide livestock keepers access to vaccines. It outlines GALVmed's role stimulating both supply and demand of the ECF vaccine through various partners and activities in countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi. These include training vaccinators and officials, demonstration vaccinations, and strengthening vaccine distribution networks and cold chains.

Impacts
•Initially some of the practising vets:
• Feared the introduction of the vaccine- Kills the market
• Un-aware of the ECF vaccine
• Did not appreciates “one shot slogan for ECF vaccine
immunity”
•Now:
• - Most vets wants to distribute the vaccines

18. Lesson learnt & way forward
• ECF field activities in Kenya has increased the:
• vaccine demand, - more counties in Kenya ask about
the vaccine
• Adoption 60% between January – November 2014
compared to 2013
• Higher price still a major factor inhibiting the adoption of
the vaccine
19. • Identifications of new/extra vaccine distributor & vaccinators
• ECF farmers awareness in Lake and western zones ( Mwanza,
Shinyanga, Taboro and Kagera)
• Lack of the cold chain/cold chain access for the new
vaccinators in the lake & Western regions.
