Working Group 2 discussed campus-wide strategic planning and target setting for sustainability. They considered different models for promoting strategic planning at the institutional level, including evolving the environmental office to a sustainability office or establishing an independent sustainability office. Cases were presented where top governance directly promoted sustainability as a key strategy or the university president committed to sustainability as a leading strategy. Hot topics from the previous year's discussion and an online survey included the evolution of campus-wide strategic planning, sustainability metrics and assessment, living labs as a strategy, and applications of physical solutions and technologies. Presenters then discussed topics like health promoting and sustainable universities, social networking between universities and cities, campus living laboratories, sustainability strategic planning at a German university, and holistic strategic planning
