ith the impact of the COVID-19
pandemic still spreading in ripples, the
world is slowly recovering, one day at a
time. From witnessing the halt of sectors like
manufacturing and hospitality, to reading the news of
vaccine development – the time in between has been
quite close to something out of a post-apocalyptic
thriller movie.
Economic slowdown, layoffs, unemployment, and
underemployment were the byproducts of the
lockdown resulting from the pandemic. The working
population being impacted the most, was compelled to
find a way to be rehired and be employable again. The
solution – skill development.
Skill development or re-skilling became a strong
alternative for people who lost their jobs. This led to
the boom of eLearning and upskilling platforms
providing such re-skilling courses, and thus giving
birth to a whole new niche.
Skill development platforms and companies have
always been an integral part of the education system.
Companies across the world have been striving to
deliver re-skilling programs that encompass the
potential to transform careers.

Education Franchising
a newfangled necessity
5. Pertaining to this, we at Insights Success bring to you this
exclusive edition titled, The 10 Best Education Franchises
to Open In 2020, which places the spotlight on such
companies that ensure the provision of quality education to
those seeking to change the course of their lives.
The practice of franchising has always been a preferred
option when it comes business expansion or brand
marketing. Along with prominent fast-food restaurants,
clothing brands, and retail chains, vocational education
providers have leveraged franchising to spread their brand
throughout the world with globalization and change in
customer preferences acting as the catalyst.
However, presently the franchising industry is undergoing a
prominent change around how it functions and emanates
from its traditional form and this change is being
spearheaded by technology.
Social media—another major medium of the digital
world—which provides a huge boost to franchising,
especially as it helps franchisors develop opportunities, has
already revolutionized franchising’s operating model. Due
to social media, in-country promotions of franchised
products and services, and lead generation for franchise
sales have become more efficient.
A plethora of brands have and continue to distribute
franchising rights to potential franchisees with the intent of
benefiting the entailing advantages. Through this edition
our aim is to exhibit organizations that sternly believe in
re-skilling and upskilling and its necessity in today’s
workforce, and thus providing the best and comprehensive
educational facilities and provisions to learners.

12. t is estimated that between eight to ten percent of
Ischool-age children in the United States live with one
or more learning challenges. Leaders in the fields of
cognition and education report that learning and attention
issues are not the result of low intelligence, poor vision,
poor hearing, or laziness.
In fact, studies show that children with learning and
attention differences are as smart as their peers and can
achieve at high levels. But because these children learn and
process information differently, their brain skills must be
taught and trained differently.
Children with learning challenges consistently display
issues and setbacks in one or more areas of learning, like
reading, remembering, or comprehending information. And
if not treated correctly, these challenges are likely to follow
them into adulthood. Symptoms may change over time but
learning challenges do not go away with age.
However, with one-on-one brain training, it is possible to
help children (and adults) overcome their learning
challenges. And this is precisely what Dr. Ken Gibson
embarked upon when he decided to delve deeper into brain
training to help people who were struggling to read or learn.
Dr. Gibson began his professional career as a pediatric
vision specialist. However, his passion for helping
struggling patients learn faster and easier prompted him to
spend several decades developing programs to measure and
train core cognitive skills. During this period, he trained
more than 1,000 professionals in the fields of education and
psychology on how to use his brain-building techniques to
help their own clients.
In 2002, Dr. Gibson founded LearningRx to make brain
training accessible to more families. Today, LearningRx is
the largest one-on-one brain training company in the world
with approximately 60 Centers in the U.S. and 95 locations
in 40+ countries around the globe.
Practice Leads to Perfection
Research indicates that struggles with thinking, learning,
reading, memory, and attention are often caused by one or
more weak brain skills. There are seven core brain skills
that everyone needs to learn successfully. Those skills
include: attention, long & short-term memory, processing
speed, logic & reasoning, visual processing, and auditory
processing. LearningRx tests and trains all seven.
They begin by giving every client a one-hour Brain Skills
Assessment to understand why they are struggling.
Once the Assessment is completed, and the weak brain
skills are identified, clients are paired with their own
personal brain trainer to target and train those weak skills
using a series of intense (but fun!) mental exercises that
work on the way the brain thinks, learns, reads, and
remembers. Each 60- to 90-minute brain training session is
conducted a few days a week, in eight months or less,
depending on the program.
Clients can meet one-on-one with their trainer at a
LearningRx Brain Training Center or, can choose to be
tested and trained remotely, from the comfort of work or
home.
As LearningRx reports, there are two parts to smart. The
first part relates to how well a person’s brain grasps new
information and how well their brain processes and stores
that information for future (and frequent) use. The second
part relates to what a person knows and their ability to
retain and retrieve the information their brain has stored,
where and when it is needed.
LearningRx trains and strengthens cognitive skills, which
makes brain training different than tutoring. Tutoring re-
teaches information a person may have missed the first (or
tenth) time it was delivered to them. There are many
tutoring businesses but few options for parents who want to
address the processing side of learning and performance.
And LearningRx, by far, achieves the best brain training
results.
Taking the Legacy to New Heights
As the CEO of LearningRx, Kim Hanson is carrying
forward the legacy of her father Dr. Gibson. She grew up
surrounded by her father’s groundbreaking work in
cognitive training and was one of his first students and
cognitive trainers. In 2007, Kim and her father co-authored
the book, Unlock the Einstein Inside: Applying New Brain
Science to Wake Up the Smart in Your Child, which is now
in its third edition.
Before joining LearningRx, Kim worked as a second- and
fifth-grade schoolteacher at several inner-city schools in
Nashville, Tennessee and Minneapolis, Minnesota. A
graduate of North Central University in Minneapolis, She is
also a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE).

over 35 years and have been subjected to peer-review in
more than a dozen scientific journals.
And because their results have shown real-life transfer

seeking a business opportunity that is truly life-changing.

Franchisees attend an annual convention for continued
education along with periodic webinar training. Hanson
adds, “We evaluate Center performance using standardized
Cognitive Skills Assessments for each client. Our Centers

Promoter Scores on final client surveys.”
Pacesetting Technology Keep Franchise Owners on the
Cutting Edge
In addition to its engaged franchisees, advances in
technology have helped LearningRx grow and bring about
positive changes in every region of North America. They
developed a robust and propriety Client Management
System called the LearningRx Hub that allows for
centralized reporting of client data, testing results, and
Center financial performance.
An online brain training program called BrainSkills is used
to supplement its one-on-one training and is especially
effective at helping clients’ attention, hand-eye
coordination, and processing speed. Every Center has the
ability to serve clients both in-center and remotely through
videoconferencing. This has allowed Centers to serve
clients from anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Virtual
Training proved vital to LearningRx clients who were able
to begin or continue brain training during the global
pandemic, when most citizens were restricted to locally
enforced stay-at-home mandates.
Expanding Their Horizons
LearningRx has trained over 109,000 clients to date. Its
goal is to train 300,000 clients by the end of 2030. The team
wants every parent and every adult to learn about the life-
changing power of one-on-one brain training.
Internationally, LearningRx programs are marketed under

business professionals, stay-at-home parents, as well as
physical therapists, psychologists, and speech and language
pathologists. As Hanson enthusiastically explains, “They’re
all passionate to bring the life-changing power of brain
training to their communities; they get what we do and get
really excited about it.”
Most successful franchisees have the skills needed to
consistently plan, market, and network in their
communities. They confidently recommend LearningRx
programs, manage their finances and staff, and deliver
excellent customer service. These owners are persistent,
collaborative, and enjoy working with people. They tend to
be risk-takers, have a strong sales and networking mindset,
and are capable of creating and implementing detailed
business and marketing plans.
Training the Forces
Once approved as a franchise owner, LearningRx
franchisees attend eight days of intensive training at
LearningRx’s world headquarters in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, followed by two on-site visits that focus on sales
and operational support.
Hanson personally travels to each owner’s Brain Training
Center to conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony. New
franchisees are enrolled in first-year coaching that focuses
on the marketing, sales, financial, and operational aspects of
the business. Coaching is conducted by LearningRx’s
experienced support team that have a combined 22 years of
experience running and supporting LearningRx Centers.
LearningRx ensures consistent results at each Center by
training its franchisees on LearningRx’s proprietary

19. Yes, the same gym where its owner
Susan shed loads of her own weight
using some serious ‘old fashioned
ways’. Wanting to do things differently,
on a hunch, she renovated half the gym
into a Kids cooking studio. She was
never to know then that it would be so
popular that folks would line-up for her
franchises.
Cut to the present, Flour Power, by its
own admission rustles up amazing
programs for events such as Birthdays,
Weekly Classes, Camps, Adult Classes,
Corporate Events, Kids
Night Out Events, Virtual
Classes and Etiquette
Classes for the young, be
they toddlers and pre-
schoolers or even teens. And
it is precisely here, behind
the cooking stove that Flour
Power does things with a
flourish. They tell their
audience everything about
healthy cooking and eating,
and doing it in ways that
remains safe, secure, and
acceptable for everyone.
Exhibiting Excellence
Flour Power today is known
for its network of franchise cooking
studios which dole out the best advice
on preparing the right food for the right
reason and the right season with the
right cohesion – if it is about health.
In doing so, they touch upon food in all
its expanse right from the place where
it is grown to the place where it is
finally consumed. In its search for the
‘holy grail’ of food that satisfies the
palate and the appetite, they touch
upon areas as diverse as foods for
parties (especially birthday parties,
kids night-outs, out-door trips and
camps etc.), events (mostly corporate
events), and the likes. Flour Power
teaches these using a mix of mediums
and methodologies including weekly
physical (currently virtual) classes and
virtual classes.
Food as we all know is not only about
easing our hunger. It is an art, a science
and to some, a way of life. For these
reasons and just so that people
consume food with a certain respect,
veneration and modesty, Flour Power
even has Etiquette Classes which
teaches everything to kids about how
to cook, serve and consume the right
food the right way.
In the food service industry, “good”
goes beyond taste to include
economics. To this end, Flour Power
prefers to work with Franchise owners
who have the right infrastructure and
resources. A young guest walking
through the front door should,
according to them, leave feeling full
and pleasant with the experience, is
what they aspire for. And for that,
every new franchise owner has to go
thru a 40-hour formal training at
Raleigh, NC in an actual studio
training with kids which involves
besides others, leading cooking classes,
doing prep work and even hosting
birthday parties.

This continues with an additional six

Susan attributes the company’s
success first to teamwork. Her
franchise-owners, according to her

and flows through to every part of the

is Flour Power’s commitment to

has recently approved to sell franchises

23. amification, the use of game elements in non-
Ggame settings, is being rapidly adopted in
traditional education approaches to increase
learner motivation, engagement, and performance. As
suggested by a recent research report in the gamification
field, game elements should be tailored as per learner
interests to maximize effectiveness of the educational
content being delivered.
Gamified educational content has a lasting effect because it
helps to maximize enjoyment and engagement through
capturing the interest of learners and motivates them to
continue learning. The methods for achieving this can
include leaderboards, points, direct competition and stickers
or badges, and can be found in industries as varied as
personal healthcare, retail, and education.
Let us focus our attention on the striking rates of high
school dropouts: approximately 1.2 million students fail to
graduate each year. At college level, a Harvard graduate
school study report suggests that just 56% of students
complete a four-year degree in six years. This can be
attributed to current systematic flaws, inability of teachers
and schools to adapt to the ever-changing times, and lack of
student engagement.
In order to solve these problems and increase student
engagement, educators have come up with an ingenious
solution – adaptive gamification in education. To replace
the drudgery involved in learning process with rewarding
experiences to make education more interesting.
Let us examine the current state of research in this field and
understand how adaptive gamification in applied in
education.
Gamification in education
A professor at Indiana University, applied such a ‘gamify’
theory to his course by replacing grades with an ‘experience
points’ system. Students’ grades are determined by the
amount of points they have accumulated over the duration
of the course. Because of their innate interest college-age
generations have moved towards games, the professor made
sure that “the elements of the class are couched in terms
they understand.” As a result, students are progressing
towards higher levels of mastery, as one does in games.
Each test and assignment feel rewarding, rather than
disheartening.
By using such experience points, educators get to align
levels with skills and highlight the inherent value of
learning.
Award students with badges
Another good idea is to award students with badges on
completion of assignments. Western Oklahoma State
College is implementing this form of gamification into their
technology classes, with badges like “Moodle noob no
more” or “Drop it like its hot” to indicate mastery of
Dropbox. However, it is important to add value to these
badges, like bonus points, skill levels, etc.

24. Integrate educational video games into your curriculum
The use of games allows students to fail, overcome, and
persevere. Students are imparted with a sense of agency –
in games, they control the choices which the characters
make, and the more agency students have, the better they
do. Instantaneous feedback and small rewards are external
motivators that work.
Strategy for gamification in education:
Step1 – Assess your students
Ÿ This involves identifying your students’ pain points
and surveying your class. For example, if you notice
that PowerPoint presentations disengage students, try
adding interactive elements.
Ÿ Identifying student issues will put them at the forefront
of your gamified learning strategy.
Ÿ You should also survey your class to understand the
types of games your students play. This will help you
align the gamification elements you introduce with their
interests.
Step 2 – Define clear learning goals
Ÿ Set learning and behavioral goals that address the
trouble spots and pain points you have identified.
Ÿ Learning goals include helping students understand
concepts and develop skills. Behavior goals involve
helping students concentrate and work efficiently.
Although these goals can remain private, they will help
guide the gamified learning experience.
Ÿ The next step to take is to structure open projects to
help meet these goals
Ÿ Video games typically allow players to make choices
that challenge them and suit their abilities, so consider
offering choices when it comes to projects.
Step 3 – Structure the gamified learning experiences
Ÿ Adjust your scoring system, modify how you
showcase grades, highlighting progress instead of
mistakes.
Ÿ This will help change how students perceive grades –
instead of going downhill from 100%, they are going
uphill from zero.
Ÿ Use Stages. You can change how you refer to topics and
units, clearly illustrating skill-building progression.
Topics and units have clear implication for teachers;
students may not easily see how they fit together.
Ÿ You can emphasize on this by framing certain tasks as
prerequisites to reach the next stage.
Step 4 – Identify resources
Ÿ Create a manual and organize teams. Instruction
manuals will not only gamify the course outline but also
allow acclimating students to the gamification of
learning in general.
Ÿ Similar to gaming instruction manuals, your manual
should contain information such as – how stages work,
the kinds of assignments that students will tackle, your
new scoring system included with the ways students can
gain XP (experience points), how students can obtain
rewards, and what kinds of rewards are available.
Ÿ Next, organize studying and learning teams. This will
not only open the door for group work and collaboration
but help replicate a core element of almost any game –
instant, adaptive feedback.
Step 5 – Apply gamification elements
Ÿ Make progress visible. Displaying progress promotes a
sense of community and competition. Will also motivate
students to complete their progress bars.
Ÿ Offer rewards. Reward systems in gamified education
encourage students to acknowledge their
accomplishments and continue their progress.
In an age where humanity is generating more knowledge,
we need strategies like curation and gamification so as to
traverse in the educational landscape.
Curation can be used to analyze and carefully select which
data would even be useful.
Gamification can be used to learn and internalize that
selected data in forms of knowledge and skills.
By incentivizing the behavior you want your students to
cultivate, gamification is a powerful weapon, that educators
should have in their arsenal.

its initatives to exceed its customer’s
expectations and thrive as an
independent gym.
In the words of Gary, “Name an
obstacle and we’ve probably overcome
it. From site location to construction,
to scheduling, to staffing, to training,
to sales; we’ve encountered the whole
gamut of challenges and can now
confidently implement our tried and
true system to fitness entrepreneurs
looking to avoid those same pitfalls.”
After seven years of operating
experience, the franchise has a
business model that has been crafted
through experience and continuously
evolves to adapt to consumer
preferences.
Three-Pointers Ahead
Within less than four years, PickUp has
boasted its sites in six states with
additional sites pending in three other.
Gary adds, “The sky’s the limit because
basketball is a truly global sport. We
envision ourselves to be a nation-wide
brand that will be operating in all 50
states and possibly beyond.”
For its future endeavors, the company
strives to deliver strong unit-level
economics at each franchise location. It
aims to continue to enrich its business
model to ensure PickUp USA Fitness
delivers world-class service to the
customers and yields strong economic
returns for the club owners.

I go about three or four times a week

“PickUp USA Fitness is a really

31. FRANCHISING
FRANCHISING
FRANCHISING
A SMART BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
xactly what is a business opportunity?
EThat question has distressed a large
number of individuals attempting to
conclude whether to purchase an autonomous
business or a franchise as a business opportunity.
At the point when entrepreneurs start dreaming
for their future, franchising is seldom the
beginning spot for their dream. While it’s not
generally considered as the best option, yet the
advantages of franchising make it an alluring
vocation.
With a built-up brand and supportive
network/system, franchisees offer an opportunity
to taste maintaining a business while additionally
giving them huge assistance.
“A franchise is a business with training wheels,”
said Tom Scarda, a podcast dedicated to
franchising. Further, he added “For a majority of
franchisees, franchising has proven to be a viable
way to become a business owner. For the most
part, it offers the lowest risks and the highest level
of support. Because a franchiser doesn’t succeed
until the franchisees do, you'll find a team of
dedicated professionals willing and able to help
you every step of the way, from site selection to
employee hiring to grand opening.”

32. The company that offers rights to its current plan
of action and items to another agent or
organization is making an establishment. The
specific definition, in any case, fluctuates due to
the various resolutions passed by the Federal
Trade Commission and individual states.
Focal Point
Probably the greatest advantage of franchising is
drawing off the experience and mastery of the
whole association. By joining a practised brand,
you sidestep a large number of the difficulties in
building an organization starting from the earliest
stage. As a dependable guideline, a franchisee
gets more help from the parent organization, gets
the opportunity to utilize the reserved trademark
name, and is all the more rigidly guarded by the
franchisor.
“Franchising takes the guesswork out of starting a
business,” said Jonathan Barnett, founder and
CEO of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning. Furthermore,
he says “They have established systems designed
to give new franchisees a massive head start over
competitors. On top of that, franchisees benefit
from the power of an established brand. It’s hard
to overstate the advantage of starting a business
and having people know and trust your brand
from day one.”
These are Some Particular Advantages of
Franchising:
Ÿ Franchising gives development capital
The need for funding to develop is eliminated
to a great extent. The establishment charge
paid by the franchisee will ordinarily cover
costs, for example, apparatuses, signs, lease
stores and other opening costs. This origin of
money from franchisees can lessen the risk of
developing: financial leveraging. Rather than
getting for development, your franchisees can
outfit the capital
Ÿ Maintains a strategic distance from employee-
related issues
In an organization-store, the manager and
employee are on the pay-roll. In a franchise
unit, they are employed by the franchisee. This
lessens the franchisor headache related to
employees, labourers pay protection and other
work-related issues.
Ÿ Quickens extension over a wide region
The franchisor is accordingly allowed to
extend geologically at a rate that takes out the
three major issues of cash, managers, and
employees. Utilizing internet technology
specialized devices, global development turns
out to be more practical.
Ÿ Franchisee administrators are motivated to
succeed
A few years prior a chain of doughnuts shops
changed from working as an organization
claimed chain to a franchised chain. In almost
all cases the organization directors remained on
as franchisees. The outcomes of the progress
were clearly outward the following day. The
stores were cleaner, the deals went up, and the
doughnuts were greater and better. The thing
that matters was that rather than supervisors,
the stores were taken over by glad owners.
There are a large number of establishment open
doors for enthusiastic business visionaries who
see the interest in the franchise model. Be that
as it may, not all franchises are savvy ventures.
That is the reason it’s significant for
prospective franchisees to explore the open
doors they are keen on.

34. Featured in Insights Success, the Founder and CEO,
Dennis Kambeitz of Robots.Education shares his
insights behind the triumphant success of his
organization in the global marketplace.
Here is what Dennis had to say when asked a series of
questions:
Give a brief overview of the company and its vision.
The coming decade will be defined by the largest workforce
transition in the history of mankind. Millions of jobs will be
eliminated by robotics and artificial intelligence, while
millions of new jobs will be created. Equally important to
understand is that a significant number of remaining jobs
will be transformed.
The workplace is changing incredibly rapidly. As
companies integrate more sophisticated technologies, job
applicants who have strong technical skills (including
robotics literacy) will have a huge advantage. It’s important
to understand that we’re not advocating that “everyone
needs to become a roboticist or a programmer”, but have
robotics literacy will be a significant differentiator in the
workforce within the next seven year, across a huge number
of industries and jobs, including jobs that wouldn’t be
considered to be “technical in nature”.
Robots.Education is a world leader in addressing this
challenge. We teach robotics directly to children and adults
through in-school and after-school programs, summer
camps, and evening and weekend workshops. We also work
closely with educators, helping them understand the best
practices for teaching robotics. We’ve trained hundreds of
educators how to teach robotics, and literally 100% of them
have indicated that they would recommend us to their
colleagues.
Our strategies for teaching robotics allow virtually anyone
to acquire robotics literacy. Perhaps more importantly, our
programs are incredibly engaging for students and we’ll see
enrolment levels that far exceed anything that schools or
other programs are achieving.
Over the past 4 years we’ve demonstrated robotics to more
than 14,000 students from grades 4-12, and following our
presentations, 90% of them have indicates that they would
be interested in learning robotics. The coming decade will
see explosive growth within the robotics industry, and the
demand for robotics education will grow rapidly. Our
approach to teaching robotics is incredibly inspirational,
while our strategies and methodology allow virtually
anyone to learn robotics.
99% of our program participants would recommend us to
their friends and family.
What are the cutting-edge products/services offered by
Robots.Education?
We use world-class technology and combine it with an
approach that inspires almost everyone. Most other robotics
programs tend to fall into two categories – the students are
using low powered technology or they are high-end
engineering programs. Once we accept that ALL our
students need robotics literacy, the low powered option
doesn’t teach enough, and the engineering programs only
attract engineering minded students.
We teach real-world robotics in a way that inspires virtually
everyone, and that virtually everyone can learn. There truly
is nothing else like it.
What are the distinctive features/foundations that make
Robots.Education unique from its competitors?
Our programs achieve incredibly strong results. 100% of
the educators who we have trained would recommend us to
colleagues, and 99% of program participants would
recommend us to friends and family.
We make robotics fun for everyone. Our innovative
approach to teaching robotics (and incredible levels of
engagement) allows us to build strong relationships with
educators, whereby they will often view us as a trusted
resource, rather than an outside vendor.

35. Where does Robots.Education see itself in the long run
and what are its future goals?
Robotics education will see massive growth over the
coming decade, and Robots.Education has positioned
themselves as global leaders in this area. Over the coming
decade, we will inspire and educate millions of people on
robotics, helping them be successful in both school and
their careers.
About the Leader
Dennis is recognized as a global leader and passionate
advocate for STEM and robotics education.
Dennis is regularly invited to speak at education
conferences. Over the past three years, he’s being helping
thousands of educators to comprehend the disruption in
technology that will arrive in the workforce and what a
company needs to do to prepare its students. His
presentations have been described as “paradigm changing”
and “something that ALL educators NEED to hear”.
Superintendents who hear his presentations will often ask
Dennis to speak to their principals. And further those
Principals will ask him to meet their staff members.
Universities and school districts have flown Dennis across
the continent to train their professors and teachers.
Dennis’s innovative approach to teaching robotics and
coding has helped hundreds of schools to achieve
unprecedented levels of student engagement across all
demographics. His strategies has proved to be successful
with boys, girls, nerds, jocks, the gifted, and even students
who are not as academically inclined.
