3. About The Study
Ipsos Online Audience Measurement is conducted among internet users to track
their online behavior and usage across websites.
The study concept is build on two approaches in order to deliver the media and
digital industry the most accurate and reliable data.
Approach 1:
Ipsos collects traffic data from participated websites by embedding a tag on
their pages. From tagging the websites, Ipsos Gemius can identify numbers
of “Real Users”, which are NOT uniques, cookies or browsers.
Consequently the media industry can better plan the advertisers campaign
by using “Reach” as a main media indicator
Approach 2:
Ipsos recruit a panel randomly through different means to insure proper
internet distribution and representation. After identifying the profile, each
panelist downloads a sophisticated application on his/her computer that
enables the metering of internet behavior.
The panel approach was introduced since multinational websites and some local websites cannot
be tagged.
4. Coverage :
The study covers 12 MENA countries; KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar,
Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt and Morocco.
By use of panel and website tagging, data is delivered across 4 main
countries covered in this report (KSA, UAE, Jordan and Egypt). This concept
is called hybrid approach. The remaining countries are delivered through the
cookie panel approach. More countries will be part of the panel soon.
Different Online Ad Networks and around 300 local websites are currently participating in the
study.
Sample size?
• Total Cookie Panel sample size: represent the individuals that accessed the
tagged websites and filled in the pop up survey: 25079
• Total Panel sample size: Are the recruited people who downloaded the
application on their laptop and they represent: 15452

The metering and tagging technology allows Ipsos Gemius to collect
different metrics and statistical analytics: in this report, the main metrics
chosen are:
• Reach: % of Real Users – Internet Individuals
• Number of Page Views
• Number of visits
• Time spent per visit/ visitor
• Audience composition PV /Time Composition, and audience duplication .
• Demographic details (e.g. nationality, gender, age, purchase behavior, marital
status, other media usage…etc)

Readership, listenership, viewership, internet surfing, and product consumption is now within a
hand’s reach
69. Ipsos MediaCT is the market leader in the region conducting all media research
studies to serve the industry. Ipsos MediaCT carries out syndicated media research
studies to monitor media consumption habits of residents in the region. Those
studies cover TV Viewership through the Telemetry study (TLM), radio listenership
through Radiometry study (RDM), print readership through the National
Readership Survey (NRS), internet consumption through Ipsos Gemius, brands’
Usage and Attitudes through BrandPuls, and technology consumption through the
Information, Communication & Technology Study (ICT).
Having all the mentioned services lead to the establishment and release of a new
service which is Data Fusion 360. Data fusion is the process of integration of
multiple data and knowledge representing the same real-world object into a
consistent, accurate, holistic and useful representation. Having mentioned
accuracy, we are talking here about a very high level generated from the tight
constraint imposed on the fusion process.
