Back to school savings at Fort Myer Exchange
The Fort Myer Exchange is helping military shoppers make the grade with
competitive prices and tax savings on supplies students need to head back to school. As
Virginia rolls out its school supply sales tax holiday weekend Aug. 1-3, the Fort Myer
Exchange will match local sales tax discounts to offer an additional 6 percent off select

Grant Hall courtroom open house Aug. 2
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall announces its quarterly open house of Grant
Hall’s historic third-floor courtroom, located on the Fort McNair portion of the joint
base, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The open house is free and open to the public.
The courtroom is the site of the military tribunal, held from May through June
1865, of those thought responsible for the plot to assassinate President Abraham
Lincoln. Please be advised the third floor courtroom is only accessible by walking up
two flights of stairs.

Flea market cancelled
The flea market scheduled for Aug. 2 has been cancelled due to a lack of vendors.
The next flea markets are scheduled for Sept. 6 and Oct. 4. Cost is $10 per table. For

Temporary parking restrictions Aug. 2-3 on Fort McNair
Parking will be temporarily restricted on the Fort McNair portion of the joint
base beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 and continue through Sunday, Aug. 3.
The following roads and parking lot are restricted:
- Officer’s Club lower parking lot
- 2nd
Avenue from C Street to D Street
- D street parking lot
- 4th
Avenue from B Street to D Street
All vehicles that not moved by 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 will be towed at the
owner’s expense.
Major road closures in the District Aug. 4-7
Please be advised that portions of Main Ave. outside of the Fort Lesley J. McNair
portion of the joint base will have road closures during the 2014 U.S. Africa Leaders
Summit scheduled for Aug 4-7 in Washington, D.C.

2. *Maine Ave. SW Eastbound between Ohio Dr. SW and 9th
Street SW from Aug. 4 at 10 p.m. to
Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.
*Maine Ave. SW Westbound between 9th Street SW and 12th
Street SW from Aug. 4 at 10 p.m.
