News
New – SHARP professional development training April 11
Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Response Program (SHARP) professional
development training is being offered April 11 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in Conmy Hall on
the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. This training will focus on Monika Korra’s
“Breaking the Silence” story. This firsthand account of Korra’s experience supports the
Army’s efforts to aggressively work to eradicate the heinous crime of sexual assault
throughout its formations and civilian work environments. For more information,

New – HVAC repairs April 10-11
Maryland Heating and Air will be on the Fort Myer and Fort McNair portions of
the joint base April 10-11 to repair or replace HVAC systems in gate buildings. The
work will be done between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Traffic disruption is expected to be
minimal and the Henderson Hall portion of the base will not be affected.
New – Three Point Shootout April 11
Come test your shooting ability April 11, 12:30 p.m., at the Cpl. Terry L. Smith
Gymnasium. Participants will have one minute to short 15 basketballs from behind a
three point line. The contestant who has the most points will be declared champion.

New – Easter Egg Splash registration now open
Registration is now open for the Easter Egg Splash at the Maj. Douglas A.
Zembiec Pool April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, log onto:

New –Easter Sunrise Service April 20
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington Chaplain will host the annual
Easter Sunrise Service April 20 at the memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National
Cemetery. The non-denominational worship service will begin with a prelude by the
U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” at 6:15 a.m. The service is scheduled to begin with a
call to worship at 6:30 a.m.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those with limited
mobility, a free shuttle service will provide transportation to the amphitheater
beginning at 5:15 a.m. from the Arlington National Cemetery’s Visitor Center and JBM-
HH’s Old Post Chapel Gate.
NOTE: Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Selfridge Gate will be open for
pedestrians with a DoD ID card.

New –Easter brunch at the Fort Myer Officers Club
Bring the family to the Fort Myer Officers Club for Easter Brunch April 20.

New –Finger printing no longer done at DES, moved to Security Office
All fingerprinting is now conducted at the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
Security Office, located in Bldg. 59, Room B9 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base.
Finger prints will ONLY be conducted by appointment. Please call 703-696-0756/8341
to schedule your appointment.
New –Fort Myer ID office temporarily closed April 16-17
The ID office on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be temporarily closed
April 16-17 for computer upgrades. The ID card office will reopen for normal business
April 18 at 8 a.m.
For immediate service during the temporary closure, you may visit the following
ID offices:

New – Volunteers needed for TAPS Good Grief Camp
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is in need of volunteers
for this year’s TAPS Good Grief Camp, supporting children of fallen military members
over the Memorial Day weekend.
Each Mentor will be matched with a child who has lost a loved one while serving
in the military. This camp will be held over the Memorial Day weekend and there is
mandatory training prior to the camp on May 21 or 22. For more information about the

New – Pentagon household goods assistance
All personnel assigned to the Pentagon or any of its agencies who are PCSing,
separating or retiring and in need of household goods shipment assistance, should
contact the personal property processing office at Fort Belvoir. You may contact the
Logistics Services Washington at 9301 Chapek Rd., Bldg. 1458, Fort Belvoir, Va. 22060;
phone 703-545-0002. A copy of your orders is required and can be faxed to 703-602-0337.
New – Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation launches new site
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation
has launched a new website. Log onto www.jbmhhmwr.com to see all upcoming events
and news.
Mandatory annual training for civilian employees
The Employee Assistance Program Coordinator is hosting ASAP training for all
non-supervisor civilian employees, to include Workplace Violence Prevention and Drug
Free Workplace training, which will take place April 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Suicide Prevention training will be offered April 9 from 1 to 2 p.m.
All training sessions will be held in Bldg. 230 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base.

Ongoing construction at MCX
Going on now through April 14, crane operations will limit access to the rear
upper parking lot and doors of the MCX and Java Café. The café continues to open at
their regular time, 7:30 a.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. Sundays; café
patrons should use the MCX breezeway entrance and interior doors. Please check social
media and www.mccsHH.com for updates. For their safety, patrons are asked to obey
the construction crew and signage in and around the construction site. Any concerns
may be directed to MCCS Operations at 571-483-1947.
Golf With Us registration now open for April 18
The Semper Fit Golf With Us program is open for registration now through April 9
for the April 18 tournament at Marine Base Quantico. For details, log onto

The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” upcoming events

All of the performances are FREE and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.
This schedule is subject to change without prior notice. All outdoor concerts are subject

Bowling Center renovations
The Bowling Center on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will undergo
heating/air conditioning repairs beginning April 14, which will last approximately 6-8
weeks. During this time, the Bowling Center will not have heat or A/C, but is
scheduled to remain open for services. We will update as more information becomes

Veterinary Clinic is now ICE enabled
Customers are now able to make ICE (interactive customer evaluation) comments
for, to and about the Veterinary Clinic, Building 239 on the Fort Myer side of Joint Base
Myer-Henderson Hall.
To give the Vet Clinic a comment, complaint or compliment, click on

improve the quality of customer service.
Career and Education Fair
Army Career and Alumni Program will host a job fair April 10 from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. at the Community Center (Bldg. 405) on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. For

AOWCGWA April luncheon
The Army Officers Wives Club of the Greater Washington Area (AOWCGWA)
will host their April luncheon April 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Officers Club on
the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. The cost of the event is $20. For more

Music for Lenten Season
Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be hosting a
concert series on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. during the Lenten season. The concerts run
through Thursday, April 10 and each concert lasts approximately 25-30 minutes.
Catholic Lent/Easter schedule
All services will be held at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the
joint base unless otherwise stated.
Stations of the Cross will be held at 6 p.m. April 11 at the Memorial Chapel on
the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH. Stations of the Cross will be followed by a penitential
supper in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m.
Palm Sunday, Rite of Blessing and Procession of Palms mass will be held April
12 at 5 p.m. and April 13 at 9 a.m.
April 14-16, Mass will be held at noon. There will not be noon Mass April 17-18.
Holy Week Triduum Liturgies:
April 17: Holy Thursday, Liturgy of the Lord’s Supper mass at 6 p.m. There will
be no other Mass that day.
April 18: Good Friday, Liturgy of Our Lord’s Passion and Death at 6 p.m. There
will be no other Mass that day.
April 19: Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil Mass at 7:30 p.m.
April 20: Solemn Easter Sunday Mass at 9 a.m.

ACAP supports spouses in transition
Army Career and Alumni Program offers services to the spouses of military
personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service).
Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance
with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment
Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary
negotiation) and financial planning.
More services include classes on home buying, credit scores, investing, TRICARE,
finding and applying for federal jobs and much more.
If your spouse is preparing to transition from the military -- retiring or ETSing, make
an appointment with ACAP.

Family Readiness
New – Children’s Fair
The Henderson Hall Child, Youth and Teen Program will host their annual
Children’s Fair April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gym on the
Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. CYTP is also looking for volunteers to help

Stress management training
Participants will be given information on the basics of identifying stressors in
their life and how to create their own stress management plan. The class is scheduled
for April 9 from 9-11 a.m. in the Army Community Service, Bldg. 201. For more

Playtime at the Park
Join the JBM-HH New Parent Support Program for a morning of fun at
Clemyjontri Park (6317 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101) April 10 from 10 a.m. to
noon, where children of all abilities can play side-by-side. Parents and children ages 0-

Children who witness seminar
This seminar helps parents who have experienced violence understand the
impact on their children and themselves, teaches parents to talk to and listen to their
children about their experience of the violence, to encourage children’s resiliency, and
to support parents in strengthening their relationships with their children. The class is
held April 10 from 5-6 p.m. in the Cody Child Development Center, Bld.g 243. For more

Parenting workshop: Setting Limits
Parents will learn how setting limits and boundaries can be an effective
parenting tool and practice enforcing them. The class is scheduled for April 21 from 10

Anger management training
Individuals will receive information on the basic principles of emotions
management, specific information about the impact of unmanaged anger, and receive
resources on how to recognize and manage the anger triggers in their own lives. Class is

Family, fitness and fun
Bring your Family and enjoy the beautiful spring morning on a one mile
run/walk/crawl! The family fitness fun is scheduled for April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at
the Cody Child Development Center. Light refreshments will be served. For more

Darkness to Light- Stewards of Children
This course, scheduled for April 30 from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Army Community
Service Bldg., teaches adults simple and proactive steps to help protect children from
sexual abuse. Open to parents, caregivers, and professionals. For more information or

Blue Tie Affair: Recognizing Our Children’s Heroes
Join the JBM-HH community as we honor individuals that have committed their time
and effort to enhancing the safety of our children. This event, scheduled for April 30
from 3-4 p.m. at the Community Center. (Bldg. 405) is open to all. For more

Tax Centers open, free!
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall has TWO (2 – count ‘em) tax centers to take care of
all of us at tax time.
 There is the Military District of Washington Tax Center on the Fort Myer portion
of the joint base in Building 205 (new location from previous years) 101 Bloxon
Street. This Tax Center is now open for appointments or walk-ins Monday
through Friday and every other Saturday (Monday, Wednesday and Friday --
8:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday – 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and every other until
April 12 – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – walk ins only.
 There is the Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps Tax Center aboard the Henderson
Hall portion of the joint base, Building 29, Room 105. They are open now from 8
a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are not necessary, but
appointments are available for more complex tax returns. Bring your military ID,
all W2s, all 1099s, 1098s, etc., social security cards for all family members, EIN for
day care providers, all documents supporting deductions and credits, copies of
your 2012 federal and state tax returns, tax power of attorney or IRS form 2848

Anger Management workshops offered
Marine & Family Programs offers anger management workshops weekly,
Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshops are designed to teach eight tools for
managing anger. Participants may start at any time, but must attend all eight sessions to
receive a certificate of completion.
Sessions are in Building 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the
joint base. The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members, and
military retirees. To register, please call 703-614-7204.
Stress workshops held Tuesdays
Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress
on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies
for dealing with stressors, is held Tuesdays, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in Bldg. 12’s conference
room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying
stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing
yourself talk, eating right, exercise and developing a personal stress management plan.
The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members and military
retirees.

This training will focus on Monika Korra’s “Breaking the Silence” story. This firsthand account of Korra’s experience supports the Army’s efforts to aggressively work to eradicate the heinous crime of sexual assault throughout its formations and civilian work environments. New – HVAC repairs April 10-11 Maryland Heating and Air will be on the Fort Myer and Fort McNair portions of the joint base April 10-11 to repair or replace HVAC systems in gate buildings. New –Easter Sunrise Service April 20 The U.S. Army Military District of Washington Chaplain will host the annual Easter Sunrise Service April 20 at the memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery. The non-denominational worship service will begin with a prelude by the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” at 6:15 a.m. The service is scheduled to begin with a call to worship at 6:30 a.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those with limited mobility, a free shuttle service will provide transportation to the amphitheater beginning at 5:15 a.m. from the Arlington National Cemetery’s Visitor Center and JBM- HH’s Old Post Chapel Gate. NOTE: Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Selfridge Gate will be open for pedestrians with a DoD ID card. For more information, contact Sgt. New – Volunteers needed for TAPS Good Grief Camp The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is in need of volunteers for this year’s TAPS Good Grief Camp, supporting children of fallen military members over the Memorial Day weekend. Each Mentor will be matched with a child who has lost a loved one while serving in the military. This camp will be held over the Memorial Day weekend and there is mandatory training prior to the camp on May 21 or 22. Mandatory annual training for civilian employees The Employee Assistance Program Coordinator is hosting ASAP training for all non-supervisor civilian employees, to include Workplace Violence Prevention and Drug Free Workplace training, which will take place April 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. Suicide Prevention training will be offered April 9 from 1 to 2 p.m. All training sessions will be held in Bldg. 230 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. Ongoing construction at MCX Going on now through April 14, crane operations will limit access to the rear upper parking lot and doors of the MCX and Java Café. The café continues to open at their regular time, 7:30 a.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. Sundays; café patrons should use the MCX breezeway entrance and interior doors. Bowling Center renovations The Bowling Center on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will undergo heating/air conditioning repairs beginning April 14, which will last approximately 6-8 weeks.   • 5. Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be hosting a concert series on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. during the Lenten season. The concerts run through Thursday, April 10 and each concert lasts approximately 25-30 minutes. Catholic Lent/Easter schedule All services will be held at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base unless otherwise stated. Stations of the Cross will be held at 6 p.m. April 11 at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH. Stations of the Cross will be followed by a penitential supper in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. Palm Sunday, Rite of Blessing and Procession of Palms mass will be held April 12 at 5 p.m. and April 13 at 9 a.m. April 14-16, Mass will be held at noon. There will not be noon Mass April 17-18. Holy Week Triduum Liturgies: April 17: Holy Thursday, Liturgy of the Lord’s Supper mass at 6 p.m. There will be no other Mass that day. April 18: Good Friday, Liturgy of Our Lord’s Passion and Death at 6 p.m. There will be no other Mass that day. Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall has TWO (2 – count ‘em) tax centers to take care of all of us at tax time.
  • 8.  There is the Military District of Washington Tax Center on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base in Building 205 (new location from previous years) 101 Bloxon Street. This Tax Center is now open for appointments or walk-ins Monday through Friday and every other Saturday (Monday, Wednesday and Friday -- 8:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday – 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and every other until April 12 – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – walk ins only.  There is the Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps Tax Center aboard the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base, Building 29, Room 105. They are open now from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are not necessary, but appointments are available for more complex tax returns. Bring your military ID, all W2s, all 1099s, 1098s, etc., social security cards for all family members, EIN for day care providers, all documents supporting deductions and credits, copies of your 2012 federal and state tax returns, tax power of attorney or IRS form 2848 (POA). Anger Management workshops offered Marine & Family Programs offers anger management workshops weekly, Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshops are designed to teach eight tools for managing anger. Participants may start at any time, but must attend all eight sessions to receive a certificate of completion. Sessions are in Building 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members, and military retirees. To register, please call 703-614-7204. Stress workshops held Tuesdays Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies for dealing with stressors, is held Tuesdays, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in Bldg. 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing yourself talk, eating right, exercise and developing a personal stress management plan.
