3. Holy Cross Academy, Inc. recognizes the benefits and
opportunities that social media can bring as a tool. It
can be used to share news, information and successes,
keep the HCAI community up to date with important
developments and promote healthy academic
environment. There is, however, an inherent risk
involved in using social media, in that, it is an
instantaneous and far-reaching form of communication
and inappropriate use can impact upon staff, students
and the reputation of the school.
6. Social media is defined as any online interactive
tool which encourages participation, interaction
and exchanges. New forms of social media appear
on a fairly regular basis and currently include
Facebook, Google Meet, Instagram, YouTube,
LinkedIn, Tiktok Snapchat and Twitter, as well as
blogs, discussion forums, instant messaging and
any website which allows public commenting or
posting.
7. SCOPE OF THE POLICY
•This policy applies to all students and
personnel and to any personal
communications within a social media
platform which directly or indirectly
reference the school.
9. Using social media as a teaching and learning tool
The use of Social Media for teaching and learning must agree to the terms
and conditions set by the school.
11. Students and school personnel
must take particular care when
communications through social
media can identify them as
students and personnel of the
HCAI.
12. The following non-exhaustive list may, according to the circumstances (and subject to
3.1), be considered to be of an unacceptable nature and should never be
posted:
• confidential information (which may include research not yet in
the public domain, information about fellow students or staff or
personnel matters, non-public or not yet approved documents or
information);
• details of complaints and/or legal proceedings/potential legal
proceedings involving the school;
• personal information about another individual, including
information, without their express permission;
* comments posted using fake accounts or using another person's
name without their consent;
13. STUDENTS AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL SHOULD
never be post:
• material, including images, that is threatening, harassing,
discriminatory, illegal, obscene, indecent, defamatory, or
hostile towards any individual or entity;
• any other posting that constitutes a criminal offence;
• • anything which may bring the school into disrepute or
compromise the safety or reputation of colleagues, former
colleagues, students, staff and those connected with the
school :

22. For Junior High School:
1. The school strictly prohibits the junior high
school students to bring their
cellphone/Gadget except laptop inside the
school campus as this could disrupt classroom
activities and discussions.
23. For Junior High School:
2. However, there are times when
cellphone may deem needed inside the
classroom for learning purposes, the
subject teachers shall secure a letter of
approval from the school principal,
through the office of the prefect of
discipline.

3. In addition, when bringing cellphone
in the school is strongly need due to

The student needs to contact the
parents after class to fetch him/her.
There are important information’s
that needs to inform the student within
the day.

• 3. The student and his/her parent/guardian must first
secure a probationary permit from the Office of the
Prefect of Discipline.
• The permit can be revoked anytime depending on the
adherence of the holder on the provisions stated
therefrom and/as stipulated on Article 9-School Discipline,
Section 3 Offenses, Occurrence, and Penalty of the student
handbook.

27. PROCESS ON REQUEST FOR
PROBATIONARY PERMIT
• Inform your class adviser for the request.
• The class adviser will submit the list of students under
his/her section who request for a probationary permit.
This will be submitted to the Office of the POD.
• The student and his/her parent must see the POD for the
request.
• The POD may or may not approve the request based on
the result of the evaluation during the conference with
parents and student.
28. For Junior High School:
The following are designated places and times
where students who secures a permit can use
their phones:
Inside the classroom during health break and
lunch break only.
Inside the classroom during class discussion
where the subject teachers allow it for purposes
that will reinforce the lesson or the discussion.
In the waiting area near the gate house.
29. For Junior High School:
Students who are caught using a cellphone
outside of the designated areas by any of the
school authorities (school directress, principal,
coordinators, and faculty) will face automatic
confiscation of permit and/or of the used phone
and the consequences outlined in Article 9-
School Discipline, Section 3 Offenses,
Occurrence, and Penalty of the student
handbook.
30. For Senior High School:
The school has given the privilege to the
senior high school students to bring inside
the school campus their gadgets such as
cellular phones, laptops, and tablets as the
school recognizes its importance for the
SHS students, especially for their research
and other important concerns where it
deems necessary. However….
31. For Senior High School:
. The following are designated places and times where SHS
students who secures a permit can use their phones:
inside the classroom during health break and lunch break
only.
inside the classroom during class discussion where the
subject teachers allow it for purposes that will reinforce the
lesson or the discussion.
in the waiting area near the gate house.
inside the gymnasium during break time and lunch time.
32. For Senior High School:
. The SHS students shall not used their mobiles
phones particularly to the following areas:
Junior High School Rooms and Passages
School Passages
School Grounds
School Canteen and Tables near the canteen
Chapel and other Sacred areas
33. DATE OF IMPLEMENTATION
•This policy will take effect
on August 22,2022.
•However, for this week, those who will
bring their phones esp. JHS students will
still need to follow the rules on where and
when to use them.
