1. Are You Determined To Succeed?

Quick Story About Someone Who Is Determined To Succeed…
My friend Aaron has two young sons…
One of them is a five year old who practices martial arts.
This 5 year old kid is more determined to succeed than most adults I know!
His father recorded him at one of his lessons…
In the video he shared with me, his son and one other kid who was about 10 years old where trying to earn
their red belt from their sensei.
In order to get their red belt, they had to break a board with their foot.
The sensei walks up to the 10 year old kid and says “are you ready?”.
The kids answers “yes sir”.
The sensei holds the wooden board in a downward position away from his body facing the kid, and then
told the kid to break the board.
This kid, did some sort of wind up, where he would raise his foot to the board slowly and then lower his foot
to the floor. He repeated this motion about 2 – 3 times.
And then…
Because he was determined to succeed…
CRACK!
He broke the board into 2 pieces with his foot, and the sensei gave him his red belt.
Now you get to find out how determined to succeed this 5 year old kid was…
The sensei performed the same task and asked him the same question as with the other kid, “are you
ready?”.
The little 5 year old said, “yes sir”.
Attempt #1: Nothing…
Attempt #2: Nothing…
The little kid, did not get frustrated…

2. or throw a tantrum like most 5 year old kids would…
Attempts 3, 4, 5…
All failed to break the board.
This boy is VERY determined to succeed at breaking this board and earning his red belt!
The sensei looks at the boy and says. “if you do not break the board on this attempt, you must go home, do
you understand?”.
The boy said, “yes sensei”.
The sensei gets the board ready for the boy’s 6th attempt to break it with his foot.
The boy focuses…
And puts all of his energy into one big kick…
And…
NOTHING!
The boy was still not satisfied.
He is far too determined to succeed to back down now…
The sensei said, “that was your last chance, now you must go home”.
The boy said, “no sir, I won’t go home”.
The sensei repeated, “you did not break the board, that was your last chance, and you must go home now”.
The boy looks at the sensei and says, “NO, I’m not going home yet!”.
The sensei then says, “okay, are you going to break the board this time?”.
The boy says, “yes sensei”.
They prepare for his 7th attempt to break the board.
The boy focuses…
More determined to succeed than ever before…
He puts all of his energy once more into breaking the board…
He lines up his foot with the center of the board just as the 10 year old boy did…
He winds up…
He kicks the board…
And BOOM!
He broke the board into 3 pieces!
He actually broke it more pieces than the 10 year old boy had done.

3. His sensei shakes his hand, and gives him his red belt.
The boy’s face lit up with a huge smile and you could see he was proud of what he did.
This gave me chills!
The point of this story is simple…
A vision with a unshakable determination to win, will inevitably bring you victory.
So, if a 5 year old boy can be determined to succeed to a level where he wouldn’t back down or go home
until he accomplished his goal…
Then no matter what challenge you are facing right now in business or life…
YOU CAN DO IT!
Be Determined To Succeed, and it’s only a matter of time until you do!
