Although two strong performers, Kylie Irving and Gordon Hayward, rejoined the team after injuries, the Celtics only made it to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Meanwhile, ex-Portland Trail Blazer Enes Kanter should shore up Boston’s deficiencies in rebounding. Although Kanter is a poor defender, French newcomer Vincent Poirier will help the team on the boards.

Williams in particular may eventually make a similar contribution to the departed Horford.
