1. Which Certificate Is
Right For You?
There are several different Senior
Certificates. All of these certificates
lead to the same educational
qualification but how this is done is
different for each certificate.
The options currently available
include:
A National Senior Certificate
An Amended Senior
Certificate
A Matric Upgrade (which
also awards you with an
Amended Senior Certificate)
A Matric Rewrite
2. You must be 21 years or older at the time of
writing the set exams for your Amended Senior
Certificate. You can apply at the age of 19 but
you can not write the exams till you turn 21
You need to be able to understand, read and
write in either English or Afrikaans
You must be able to study via Distance Learning
You need to have a Grade 9 Certificate, or
A Grade 9 equivalent certificate (for example
an ABET Level 4 certificate)

Subjects?
The subjects you choose all depend on
what you wish to accomplish by
completing an Amended Senior
Certificate. Some of these reasons for
example:
I want to improve my CV
I want to get a better passing
grade
I aim to further my studies at
tertiary level
4. How Long Does It Take To
Complete An Amended Senior
Certificate?
This is all dependent on what type
of student you are. Here are two of
the major factors that play a part
in how long it will take you to
complete our Adult Matric
Programme:

Your family or career
obligations
5. What Are The Four Types Of
Matric Certificate That I Can
Get After Completing My
Amended Senior Certificate?
There are FOUR potential certificates
you can get:
Bachelor’s Degree Pass
A Diploma Pass
A Higher Certificate Pass
An Amended Senior Certificate
Pass
6. Am I Able To Combine My
Amended Senior Certificate
And My National Senior
Certificate?
Yes, you can. You can combine a
set of results for your Amended
Senior Certificate, with a set of
results for your National Senior
Certificate. To do so you will need
to apply for a replacement
certificate, under the ‘change of
status’ option.
The government does not
automatically combine your results.
They only combine your results if you
wrote the supplementary exams.
7. The National Qualifications
Framework, or NQF, is the grading
scale of qualifications that ensure
that different levels of
qualifications are measured using
the same criteria. Its basic
function is to arrange different
levels of academic achievement.
