  3. z  VOLLEYBALL is one of the most popular, competitive , and successful recreational sports in the world.  VOLLEYBALL is a competitive sport.  Volleyball is an Olympic sports in which two teams hit the ball back and forth, separated by a high net, each team tries to score against one another governed by organized rules.
  4. z WHATIS VOLLEYBALL?  Volleyball is a team sport that generally takes place indoors. It is played with a ball on a rectangular, 18 meter by nine meter court that is divided in half by an elevated net.  Each team plays on one side of the net and consists of six players. The game is broken down into sets and matches in which each team’s goal is to win enough points to win a set and then win enough sets to win the match.
  5. z HISTORYOF VOLLEYBALL  Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)Physical Education Director.  February 9, 1985 , in Springfield , Massachusetts (United States).  Created a new game called Mintonette.  Designed the game to be a combination of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball with less body contact.

BROWN, PHYSICAL DIRECTOR OF YMCA INTRODUCED IT IN THEPHILIPPINES.  FILIPINO BORROWED TENNIS NET AND TIED IT IN BETWEEN THE COCONUT TREE APPROXIMATELY6’6” HIGH.  THERE IS NO FORMAL RULE ,GAMES WERE ON VERBAL AGREEMENT .  THERE IS NO LIMIT IN HITTING THE BALL AS LONG AS THEY CAN SENT IT BACK TO THE OPPONENT.  1916 -PHILIPPINES CREATED “SPIKE” AND IT WAS CALLED A“FILIPINO BOMB.”  JULY 4, 1961–FOUNDED THE PAVA, PHILIPPINE AMATEUR VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION. IT IS ALSO THETIME VOLLEYBALL HAS JUST BEEN INTRODUCED TO THE PHILIPPINES ATHLETES.  2006–PAVA TO PHILIPPINE VOLLEYBALL FEDERATION (PVF).

  12. z COMMONFAULTS  Causing the ball to touch the ground outside the opponents' court or without first passing over the opponents court or without first passing over the net.  Catching and throwing the ball.  Double hit : Two consecutive contacts with the ball made by the same player.  Four consecutive contacts with the ball made by the same team.  Net foul : Touching the net during play.

  14. z SERVE A player stands behind the inline and serves the ball in an attempt to drive it into the opponents Court. “Ace" when the ball Lands directly into the court or Travels outside the court after being touched by an opponent .  Types of serves :  Under hand  Sky ball serve  Topspin  Float  Float jump serve  Jump float
  15. z SET  It is usually the second contact .  The main goal of setting is to put the ball in the air in such a way that it can be driven by an attack into the opponents Court .  The Setter coordinates with the offensive moments of a team.  Overhand and bump set.  "Dump "When The Setter tries to play it directly on to the opponents Court.
  16. z PASS "Reception" is usually the first contact . The main goal of passing is to prevent the ball from touching the court and also making it reach the position where The Setter is standing quickly and precisely . The skill of passing involves fundamentally two specific techniques : • Underarm pass(bump) where the ball touch is the inside part of the joint Four Arms or platform at waist line. • Overhand pass where it is handled with that finger tips like a set above the head
  17. z ATTACK • "Spike" is usually the third contact. • The object of attacking is to handle the ball so that it lands on the opponents court and cannot be defended. • Ideally the contact with the ball is made at the apex of the hitter's jump . • The hitter uses arms swing, wrist snap , and a rapid forward contraction of the entire body to drive the ball. • A bout/A" kill. • Attacking techniques : • Backcourt (or back row) / pipe attack. • Line and cross Court • shot Cut shot • Dip/dink/tip / cheat /dump • Tool /Wipe / Block- abuse • Off- speed hit Quick hit /"one “ • Slide Double quick hit/ "Stack" / " Tandem".
  18. z BLOCK • Blocking refers to the action taken by players standing at the net to stop or alter and opponents attack . • The jump should be time so as to intercept the balls projectory prior to it crossing over the net . • A "roof" offensive block, a "soft" offensive block . • Single or solo ,double or triple block. • The block position influences the position where other defenders places themselves hitter's are spiking.
  19. z DIG • Digging is the ability to prevent the ball from touching once Court after a spike or attack ,particularly a ball that is nearly touching the ground . • The scale is similar to passing , or bumpingarms. • "Dive" ,"pancake".
