Founded in Sydney in 2001 MitchelLake was forged in the technology boom
of the late 90’s, and hardened in the bust that followed. Our founders were
as confident then as they are now, that emerging technologies were forever
going to change the way we live, work, and play. MitchelLake operations now
span seven cities over four continents.

Everything, top down and bottom up. Over the past three years the
market has experienced an unprecedented uplift in demand for
digitally experienced senior executive and specialist candidates
across product, strategy, data & analytics, CX, UX & Design,
engineering, sales & marketing.
While growth in talent supply remains relatively flat, breakout
demand is being driven globally by two key factors:
The digital transformation (DX) of mature enterprise organisations &
industries has reached epic proportions. DX investment is currently
growing at ~18% YOY and expected to reach an annual run rate of
USD $2.1Trillion globally by 2019. (IDC 2016)
An uplift in venture technology investment which has trended at
more than 50% year on year growth for the past three years.
According to CB Insights, in 2015 ~USD$128.5 Billion was invested in
ventures globally, up from 89.4 Billion in 2014. Notably, investment in
Asia was up 300% year on year in 2015, to USD $39.7 Billion.

The competition for talent is hot, and everywhere. We have
all seen the Unicorn graphic, but what is happening to the
talent market as hyper funded global ventures reach
enterprise scale? 
Current perspective...
* In February 2016 we
headhunted a technology leader
(USD $2M candidate) in Europe
who is aware of at least 20 open
SVP of Engineering roles for
pure play internet businesses in
the EU. He indicated one of his
peers at another EU
venture is currently seeking to
hire 1000+ engineers over the
next 18 months.
Current perspective...
* One of the the companies
on this graphic approached
us for advice in late 2015, to
help them figure out how
they might hire 2000
software engineers, in the
Bay Area, in 2016. 
* A well known Bay Area venture
recently hired a lead developer
on USD $1M a year (+stock)
because, as a known influencer in
the SCALA  community, they will
be able to support the
attraction of top talent to their
engineering team. 
* In April 2016 we were
approached  for advice
on a strategy to hire
1000 Cloud engineers,
for a single client in
APAC.
* One of the
companies on this

Vision: The ability to clearly identify, communicate and instil a sense of common purpose and mission. Being able to bind
the "Why" of an organisation, venture or initiative to its employees and customers. We consistently observe that this is
what attracts and motivates the best talent, engages the most effective teams, and builds the most successful businesses.
Agility: Things are changing at rapid pace, requiring us all to be more nimble, but to us, being agile isn't just about rapid
iteration, or a sequence of notes on a white board. It is the capacity to test and learn, win or fail fast, effectively adjust,
communicate a path and move forward.
Balance: Not everyone who is an innovator can build or lead an enterprise, or even operate effectively in a large
organisation. Similarly not all enterprise executives are effective in a growth company. We have observed and understand
the leadership competencies required to navigate and succeed in either context, from startup to global brand.
Diversity: This is the DNA of success, not a policy. Over the last 30 years we have seen many organisations, even entire
industries, decimated by unforeseen change. We appreciate that identifying the clearest focus, and perspective, requires
the use of more than a single lens.
