  2. At the end of the lesson, we should be able to: 1. Define a wiki. 2. Create wikis online. 3. Join wiki and contribute to them.
  3. WIKI Is the website “Wikipedia.org” familiar? Just like an encyclopedia, Wikipedia contains information about anything. In addition to that, Wikipedia is an online community wherein people can edit the contents of its pages.
  4. Wikipedia is an example of a wiki. Wiki is a website containing information that can be created, organization, and revised by the members of the wiki. 1. They are easy to created and set up. 2. They are easy to search and navigate. 3. They organize information efficiently. 4. There are a lot of free wiki software online. 5. An online community is created through wikis.
  5. Steps in Creating a Wiki For this lesson, we will be creating wikis using Wikispaces.
  6. Go to www.wikispaces.com and select Sign in. Type in the username and password.
  7. Below is the dashboard. To create wiki, we; 1. Select Create Wiki.

  12. Parts of our Wiki are: 1) Wikispaces logo this is used to go back to our account’s dashboard. 2) Wiki name This is the name of the wiki. If we want other users to find out our wiki, they should type the wiki name and attach wikispaces.com.
  13. 3. Page This is use to add a new page to our wiki. 4. File This is used to upload a file to our wiki.
  14. 5. Discuss This is use to start a discussion within the community. 6. Project This is use to add new event.
  15. 7. Event This is use to add new event. 8. Navigation This is use to go to other pages in wikis.
  16. Members Invitation To invite members to join & collaborate with our wiki, we: 1. Select the Members link: 2. We will be redirected to this page:
  17. We can invite people by doing any of the following: 1. We select invite people, then input their usernames or e- mail address. Afterward, select Send. 2. We will be redirected to this
  18. Wiki join Code We can be member of Wiki in two ways: 1. Invited by the creator, it will appear in your dashboard. 2. If we were given a join code, we should go to their wiki address.
