The Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge
• Y12 (lower sixth) students work with local business
mentors to grow £100 seed capital to at least £1000 for
local charities
• Supported by their Dragon the students develop a
business plan for their fundraising activities
• Activities have included:
– quizzes, dances, concerts, cake sales, market stalls,
silent auctions, a casino, personal coaching and a pop
up shop.
• To date 200 students haven taken part in the challenge
and raised £50,000 for 40 local charities in St Albans

The Welwyn Hatfield Dragons’ Apprentice
Challenge
• The challenge runs from September 2013 to March
2014
• 5 businesses and 5 charities will be matched with 5
schools
• Business investment as a “Dragon” is £250
• Sponsorship opportunities from £100
