While the new fall shows we previewed last week may not stay on television long, these upcoming fall releases should at least last a week in theatres. So let’s all go to the lobby, get ourselves a treat, and watch some movies.

2. The Colony
Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton are among the stars of this Canadian sci-fi
horror film. It’s 2045, and climate change has pushed the planet into an ice age.
Survivors live underground in a series of colonies. And suddenly, they have
another problem – zombies!
3. Gravity
Starring George Clooney and
Sandra Bullock, Gravity is a
techno-thriller about
astronauts trying to survive
in space after the space
shuttle is damaged during a
spacewalk, cutting off the
crew from Earth. It will make
its North American premiere
at the Toronto International
Film Festival.
4. Escape Plan
With a star-studded cast of
action heroes including
Stallone, Schwarzenegger
and Caviezel, in The Escape a
wrongly accused structural
engineer (Stallone) tries to
escape a high-tech, escape
proof prison of his own
design, with help from
cellmate Schwarzenegger.
5. Ender’s Game
Based on the novel of the
same name, a gifted young
boy (Asa Butterfield) is sent
to an advanced military
school to hone his skills in
preparation for a coming
alien invasion. Harrison Ford
and Ben Kingsley also star.
6. Her
From writer/director Spoke
Jonze, Her is a sci-fi romance
about a lovelorn man
(Joaquin Phoenix) who falls
in love with his computer’s
operating system. Yes, I did
see this episode of Big Bang
Theory. But Scarlett
Johansson voices the OS.
Kind of hard to blame him.
