This document provides instructions for finding a journal either electronically or in print format. It explains that you should first check if the journal is available electronically on the web by searching the library's journal portal. If it is not available online, you should search the library's catalogue (Aleph) to find the print version, where the holdings and shelf number will indicate what volumes are available. Step-by-step directions are given for both searching the electronic journals and using the catalogue to locate print journals. Assistance from a librarian is also offered.

5. YOUR RESULTS SCREEN SHOWS ALL THE JOURNALS WITH THOSE KEYWORDS IN THE TITLE CLICK ON THE FULL TEXT CHECK MARK TO OPEN THE JOURNAL ON THE WEB Journal of Chemical Physics IS AVAILABLE FROM THREE VENDORS: THE PUBLISHER, EBSCO, AND SWETSWISE THE Online Coverage COLUMN TELLS YOU WHAT YEARS THEY OFFER

7. RETURN TO THE LIBRARIES’ HOME PAGE AT www.lib.uct.ac.za Then click on Catalogue (ALEPH) on the top MENU BAR

8. WHEN THE CATALOGUE OPENS UP ... Click on BROWSE Note: the catalogue is called ALEPH

9. THE BROWSE SCREEN OPENS UP ... The dropdown box lets you choose the index you want to browse in. Select JOURNAL TITLE from the dropdown box

11. A LIST OF JOURNAL TITLES OPENS UP ... Click on the TITLE of the journal you want

12. THIS CALLS UP THE CATALOGUE RECORD FOR THE JOURNAL ... The HOLDINGS field tells you which volumes the Library stocks The SHELF MARK (or Shelf Number) tells you where the journal will be shelved
