ID Practice.pptx

Notas del editor

  1. USP – there are lots of music magazines but none specific to Hertfordshire and directed towards university students I & I – new and fresh material as well as informing those students or young people that live in hertfordshire what is avaliable which they possibly didn’t know before as well as some facts which they may have not known before they read the magazine therefore making it a interesting read. Fufil needs – university students especailly those coming from across the UK might be unaware of where to look or find out about the music scene of hertfordshire, the maagzine puts it all in one place for them. This magazine will also come in handy due to other websites often being outdated, aimes towards an older genration or just not ueful, HertzUni magazine holds all the inforamtion in one place for them.
  2. Our magazine bases on a direct approach towards students and young people In Hertfordshire and not just focusing on the music in Hertfordshire but to what students will specifically enjoy due to their likes and dislikes which will be found through market research. It will be both digitally and paper back to be able to reach out to everyone based on their preferences as some may find it easier reading it through a physical magazine, where others may find it easier to access it online, while on the move as well as being able to access it on multiple devices. Our magazine will help promote upcoming artists to help bring light to their career through advertising them in the magazine and allowing the readers to view their social pages to be able to listen and promote their music further to help boost their career, as well as have the readers find more music that is their taste. Our magazine will also promote local events, DJs that are held by the university students who are interested in music or that university students who produce their own (singers, DJs). We believe this is better than our competitor, Hertfordshire Life and Music Week,  because we help advertise local artists and students who are in music, whereas our competitors often advertise popular artists who are already established in the music industry, Kim Wilde in Hertfordshire life and only featuring popular/trending artists in Music Week. Our advertising also helps promote relevant advertisement such as studio rental, local music companies, equipment, etc. This will help music students find businesses to help with their passion in music but aren't sure where to look to start it off.
  3. Music genre is found based on market research on the target audience, the music is a range of different genres which is associated with university students and young adults. This is so it reaches each reader and doesn’t miss them out so they all have a piece to read within the magazine as are not missed out, to help involve everyone and have diverse articles and information. The magazine will help incorporate music and lifestyle together by helping students find places to go out for a fun time and to find good music events and places known for their good music to listen to.  Music will also be featured within the magazine with the introduction of new artists, new students artists as well as the music students in the University with tips and tricks and companies to visit to help assist them with their music career, equipment, studio, etc. in Hertfordshire.
  4. Around 90 pages to make sure there are enough informative pages, photos, content pages, interviews, etc. This is to make sure the magazine is up to the same standard or higher of the competing magazines, their pages are also around 90 pages, therefore reducing the pages of the magazine could downgrade the magazines standards and quality compared to competitors. The frequency of the magazine will be produced once a month to keep up with the constant changing music industry as well as bars and clubs that have newly opened in the area, trending spots, and new event news from University events and the Hertfordshire area.
  5. The magazine will feature articles based on the best places to go out to in Hertfordshire for good music, tips and tricks for going out, upcoming 'trending' places, new events coming up, history of the music events taken place in Hertfordshire, University student artists (DJ, singers, producers, etc) bringing them to light or promoting an event they are hosting. Interviews will include upcoming artists which fit the young audiences genre of music, student artist interviews, club owners talking about their clubs, iconic past events held in Hertfordshire. Inside the magazine will feature/promote local DJ's whoa re in need for their events to get heard about or student produced events. Reviews of 'trending' clubs, bars, pubs will be featured to let others know if it is worth the hype. Advertising for local studios, jobs in music, apprenticeships in the music industry, music equipment, and events.
  6. Font for the title of the magazine, this font will help attract young audience to read as it it bold, therefore easy to see and eye-catching for people to want to grab. The font has a good style which relates to music as it is often seen in the music industry often, on posters, online, etc. This font will be used for the titles of the articles, as it is simple an dainty it does not draw too much attention away from the main image and columns which is the man focus on the double-page spreads, although it is large enough for the readers to be able to know what the article is about and not miss it, especially as it will be large text.
  7. I have chosen these color schemes because they are quite electric, vibrant and bold colors which all help to represent the music atmosphere, these colors are also often featured on flashing lights in clubs, concerts as well as worn by many people who attend these music events. The colors will help elevate the pages in the magazine to create a fun and bold look which will make the audience enjoy reading along with the visuals.
  8. The mood board demonstrates a range of ideas that may feature in the magazine such as famous artists from Hertfordshire to give those who moved to Hertfordshire from somewhere else some background on Hertfordshire and make them feel proud to be here. It features a few concert stages and DJ events as that is what will mainly be featured within the articles as well as ranking the best ones of the moment within each monthly release.  It demonstrates a few ideas on the fonts and titles which are being considered to be featured within the magazine.
  9. ages of 18-25 as the magazine is targeted towards University students which are of the age between 18-25, as well as that age range being the main age when people go out, therefore they do not have to go to University to read the magazine as they may just be interested on the nightlife which happens in Hertfordshire. The gender of this magazine will not be targeted to any specific gender, it will be aimed towards any gender to make sure it is all inclusive to everyone. The ethnic group will not matter for the target audience as all ethnicity can enjoy the contents of the magazine, from events to go to or discovering local artists. The demographics of the magazine will mainly be focused in Hertfordshire as well as the Hatfield area due to this being where the Hertfordshire University is, but does not mean all information produced will be based on Hatfield as there are plenty of places around Hertfordshire with good music locations such as Hitchin. Those from outside the Hertfordshire area will be considered being targeted as well to help brig attention to what Hertfordshire has to offer and brings more attention to the up-coming artists that will be featured in the magazine. spending power will aim to be relativity low as it is a known fact that University students aim to keep cheap due to not having much money to spend due to their new independence. Th price aim will be around £2-3 to try and keep prices low to be affordable and hopefully the University will purchase the magazine in bulk for it to be handed out as well.
  10. Computer will be needed for most of the production factors such as editing, writing, and designing. Camera will help source the images within the magazine, cameras will also need to come with SD cards to store images, tripods to keep steady while photographing, spare batterys to keep photoshoots flowing and have good time keeping. Photoshop for designing things such as front-covers, double-page spreads, content pages, as well as most of what is featured in the magazine. Illustrator can help with titles, fonts, logos. Photograper for taking high quality photos, models for the photos which will often just be the music artists featured within the magazine that month or owners of the pub, bar or club which is featured, the photos will often be buildings of the facilities included in the magazine. Image editor, for high quality images and making sure the lighting all works together. Editor and writer will help to make sure the articles contain the correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and high standard of writing. Fact checkers to make sure all information going into the magazine is correct for the readers. Social media manager, will help with the social presence of the magazine, will online content on social pages such as; instagram, twitter, facebook and the website, they will also help with any customer complaints and any feedback received from them. Graphic designer, they will help make the magazine more visually pleasing for the readers as well as helping with creation of front covers, titles and logos.
  11. Production schedule, this will help organize the magazine for what needs to be done such as; tasks (creating front cover), timelines for tasks and magazines to be finished, and whose going to do each task.  This can help with keeping organized and be ready before each magazine release. Content plan of what each magazine will include, these will be needed to be conducted to make sure ideas are thought of atleast two months before the release, and ready a month before release, this is so the magazine is ready on time. Preproduction should comence 2 months befoere the release of a magazine each time. Proofreading will happen a month before , and will be the last thing that happens to make sure the magazine is perfect and there are no mistakes, it gives it time for mistakes to be fixed if there are any.
  12. Paying wages, rent for studios for the photographers and rent for areas/venues , photoshoots will also need food and beverages to keep the team going. an average of 4,000 magazines per issue, which is an average of £8.50 to print per issue. Shipping also needs to be considered which can be around £1.80 per issue to ship out as well as considering where it will be shipped out to as the further the more expensive. For printing you will need paper therefore need to consider the amount of paper needed for a 90-page magazine with an average of 4,000 issues released. This can cost from £100,000 - £1million, to help with these costs we could consider in-house recruitment for some jobs this can be till the magazine makes enough profit to start paying for off-site recruitment of professionals to keep up the standard of the magazine. Donations from local communities , the university  and students as it is a useful magazine for students therefore has a need.
  13. printing out adverts and asking local shops around the University and on campus that sells magazines/newspaper if they can put their advertising for the magazine at the shop window for people to see when walking in to buy a magazine.  Online adverts is effective as the magazine is also digital so cutomers can quickly and easily purchase it then and there for their device.  Multiple social media accounts (instagram, twitter and facebook) can help reach out to the targeted audience as they are often online, an online presence is effective because the social media accounts can keep up with the trends online , interesting students. Music artists of the area can be sponsers for the magazine on their own social media pages, this will help promote the magazine and help reach a wider audience, when these artists are featued in the magazine it will reach fans of the artists who will want to purchase the magazine because of their feature. The magazine can be in stores such as newsagents, supermarkets, on-campus shops, stalls in the university, and hand-outs. The magazine, if brought by the univeristu, can be distributed within the universities as this is wehere the target audience are. To access the magazine online, a website would be ideal to organise the payments and location of the magazine for people to purchase them easily as well as finding them easily people can also make a free account on the website for exclusive information and easier handling as it will have their saved information. Young peole are often on their online devces such as phones, laptops, ipads, etc therefore it is a good way to get an online distribution to people. Physical paper copies is for those who want to read a pysical papercopy of the magazine ; for the photos, and in their shared accomadation for their roommates to read.
  14. Great contribution to the magazie market Inforamative for university students as it has lots of information which can help them out with their university experience My magazine will be a fun magazine aimed towards the young in a fun, creative and artistic way by including current trends to keep up with the audience, as trends are constantly changing, adding in fun articles such as; outfits to wear to what music events, trending venues, 'meet the artist' articles/interviews and many things related to young music.
