Using a circular callout diagram, let the students think and fill the small circles with ideas that are related
to research.
Then let them explain the relationship of research and the ideas they wrote.

In this activity, the students share to the class their experiences in conducting a research.
Based on student’s responses, the teacher will discuss the importance of research, the characteristics,
processes and ethics in research.
What is research?
Research is a systematic inquiry that is designed to collect data, analyze, and interpret data to
understand, describe, or predict phenomenon. (Mertens 2015)

Individual Activity
Directions: Accomplish the following task below write your answer on ½ sheet of paper.
Analyze the situation carefully and answer the questions that follow.
A researcher wanted to determine the possible effects of Favilavir, an anti-viral drug, to
COVID patients. An experimental procedure was conducted to carry out the problem. Instead of
using human beings as subjects, the researcher used rabbits. The researcher injected the drug
orally into 10 rabbit. After the treatment, condition of the rabbits was observed.

1. What ethical considerations should be observed in the research?
2. Did the researcher commit any violations in the conduct of the study? Explain your answer.
3. If you were the researcher, would you do the same?///Why or why not?
