2. THANK YOU FOR CHECKING ME OUT
My name is Joshua Morris and I am an avid Social
Media specialist with a few years of professional
experience. I have worked mostly with pop culture and
gaming licenses, with my greatest strength being able to
understand fans of different properties simply by being
one of them.
I have built my own brand on my personal website,
www.RetroDBZccg.com, which sees a few thousand
visitors to the main site daily, with over 2,300 registered
group members and an additional 2,100 followers on
Facebook.
3. TWITTER EXPERIENCE – CELEBRITY
PARTNERS WITH @YOOLOTTO
As the Social Media Manager for
tech start-up YooLotto, I coordinated
efforts with the social media teams of
several of our celebrity partners and
endorsers.
These celebrities often appealed to
very different audience segments,
requiring careful planning and
research to make sure our messages
were on point with the target
audience and didn’t overlap with
other campaigns.
Sometimes this meant switching
gears between writing for NBA
players and pop stars in short order!
4. TWITTER EXPERIENCE – INFLUENCER
MARKETING
As the webmaster for one of the
most prominent websites for a
very niche genre of games, I’ve
worked with several companies
on various “grassroots” and online
community based campaigns.
A recent campaign conducted
with trading card company Panini
America gave us exclusive
access to early copies of their
latest game release.
We received massive amounts of
traffic from the promotion with
over 20,000 unique visitors
reached per post. Good for us,
and Panini America.
5. FACEBOOK EXPERIENCE – GIVING THE FANS
WHAT THEY WANT
I’ve heard it said that to
be successful at what you
do, you better learn to
enjoy it. That’s exactly the
approach I take to social
media when trying to
cultivate fans. I can easily
talk to the fans, because I
am one.
I’m not a one man show, I
try to bring in as many
like-minded folks as
possible to generate
content and encourage
engagement by being as
inclusive and relatable as
possible.
6. FACEBOOK EXPERIENCE – BUILDING
COMMUNITIES
The essence of Social Media
is sharing, and I strive to
create environments where
everyone should feel safe
and comfortable while
making contributions to the
community.
Facebook discussion groups
have replaced the online
bulletin boards on my
website as the place to
engage with other members
of the community as well as
discuss content. The group
is moderated by dedicated
members of the community.
7. YOUTUBE EXPERIENCE – ENCOURAGING
USER GENERATED CONTENT
As the Social Media
Coordinator for tabletop
game publisher Score
Entertainment, I ran a
promotion where fans who
posted videos of themselves
opening our most recent
release would receive
exclusive promo cards.
Over 500 people posted
videos, each one
representing at least one
sale, with some of the more
elaborate videos going viral
within the community (one
did a remake of the
MacGyver TV opening).
8. INSTAGRAM EXPERIENCE – BEHIND THE
SCENES
With Instagram, I like to use it as a
“behind the scenes” tool to give
personification to the people behind the
brand or company.
As the Social Media Manager for
YooLotto, I documented and shared
candid experiences with the company
such as when we filmed with NBA
Champion Danny Green of the San
Antonio Spurs and shared some of the
autographed “swag” before we gave
them away through the YooLotto app.
It was good, easy to produce content
that gave us more opportunities to
connect with our fans and followers.
