Approximately 543,000 new businesses are being started in the
US each month. However, even more of these new businesses are
forced to close down.
According to Forbes, 50% of the working population (that’s 120
million individuals) in the United States works in a small business,
which generated 65% of new jobs since 1995.
This means that many of us have changed the way we look at
entrepreneurship and there’s a whole lot of solopreneurs who are
working to make their dreams come true.
But despite the happy news, majority of these new businesses are
destined to fail, and no, it’s not because employees are slacking off
and wasting valuable company time, or a helicopter boss, but
because many of these new companies are making one (or more)
terrible decisions when they start out.
But before you submit your resignation letter and fly out of your current
office, remember that you shouldn’t leave a job that serves as your main
source of income, doing so only makes it harder for you to get traction for your
future projects and or plans. Below are 8 tips that will get your business up
and running :
Have An Effective Website or Social Media Page For Your Business: Say your
water bottle business is doing really great in Amazon, people are leaving you
great product reviews and are recommending your product to everyone they
know. However, your 5-star customer service shouldn’t be confined to
Amazon. Once your product or service gets around, people are going to be
talking about it everywhere but because you are only focusing on Amazon or
have some ghost pages around social media, your customers and potential
clients may have trouble reaching out to you. If you’re not savvy with social
media, have a virtual assistant post for your sites.
Focus On Solving One Problem: 2015 has been rough for many of us but
that shouldn’t dishearten your business plans this 2016. But that doesn’t
mean you’re going to face all your problems at once like you did last year.
(Don’t ever do that again.) The number of problems businesses can solve
are limitless, but because we are blinded by “shiny objects” (money, fame,
etc.), we tend to set up businesses that do not have real benefits.
Hire A Business Coach: Like your virtual assistant, a business coach is an
investment and as an entrepreneur, we want to do things our way. But
doing everything by yourself isn’t always the best idea; especially when we
have too many things on our plate. But before you complain that a business
coach is just a waste of time and money, here are several reasons why you
should consider getting one:
>The best thing a business coach can do for you is help you stay motivated
and get you unstuck, especially when there are too many things running
around your mind.
>Most entrepreneurs are introverts and usually have someone else do the
talking for them, however, because of your business coach, they will help
you get out of your comfort zone to try new things.
>Not only that, many business coaches can help increase your creativity by
getting rid of (usually self-imposed) roadblocks. A coach is someone who
can help you create a safe haven for all your ideas, test out theories, and
ensures that you showcase your work properly. Having a business coach by
your side will not only help you get more creative but also reap you more
benefits, by being able to brainstorm better ideas for your products and
services, your income will increase.
>The best thing a business coach can do for you is help you stay motivated
and get you unstuck, especially when there are too many things running
around your mind.
Be Dedicated and Focused: Dedicate 30 minutes a day for reading or
listening to E-books or podcasts related to business development, it pays to
read about the industry you’re in. Don’t let bad situations hinder you from
growing your business. Set realistic goals. Take some time off during the
weekends to recharge and replenish your energy. Delegate the tasks that
you are not good at to your virtual assistant or virtual staff so you can focus
on more important tasks and stay on top of your game.

around your mind.
Outsource Everything You Can: Don’t wait around for the papers to pile up
or expect potential clients to come knocking on your front door, and we all
know how we entrepreneurs love doing it by ourselves, and obviously, you
don’t want anyone telling you how to run your business, planning your
goals, how your product or service should look like. By outsourcing
everything you can, from back-office tasks to your social media posts, you
have more time and energy to focus on the things you are good at rather
than doing everything by yourself. While it may look great to do your own
codes or designs, your ability is not that presentable, especially if you don’t
have a command of that knowledge.
Plan Your Steps: Take the time to seat down and list down all the things you
need to do or accomplish. Outline your goals and set a timeline for reaching
your goals. Attainable goals mean that you don’t need to spend time poring
over lists or talking while not getting anywhere. Set weekly goals and
develop both long and short term milestones.
Be respectful: However nice it may seem to juggle two jobs at the same
time, it doesn’t help you get things done. Show respect to your current
employer and work on your other business during your lunch break,
weekends, or after hours.
Be Patient: Anything you plan or do requires patience. This is one of the
best qualities an entrepreneur must possess especially in this time and
age. Not everything needs to move at 100 miles per hour. Don’t get
frustrated and give up if things are not going your way.
While starting a new business while having a full-time job may seem
daunting at first, it is possible. The path to entrepreneurship is as many as
there are entrepreneurs in this world. Many entrepreneurs have blazed this
trail before you and with this tips, you are far more better equipped to start
your own business while working a full-time job.
