The document discusses JustGiving's new data API that allows charities to integrate their JustGiving fundraising data with customer relationship management (CRM) systems. The API enables automatic importing of fundraising pages, payments, and custom codes between JustGiving and CRMs like ThankQ, Raiser's Edge, and Salesforce to streamline data flow and reduce manual errors. Interested charities should contact their CRM vendor or JustGiving for more information on setting up an integration.
4. Why did we build a data API?
We have launched new products that capture more
data than ever before (JustTextGiving, In Memory,
Companies)
We are not a CRM specialist and we want to work with
experts in the field to integrate the data we make
available to charities with their CRM systems
To enable a better, more streamlined integration
between JustGiving and CRM systems
5. What are the key benefits for my charity?
Time Increase
Saving Customer
Efficiencies Insights
Reduce Improve
Human Supporter
Error Care
6. So, what does it actually do?
Retrieve lists of fundraising pages and import them
automatically into your CRM system - including all
the information about your Corporate and In Memory
fundraisers
Easily add custom codes to your fundraising pages
on JustGiving, without logging into your account
Retrieve payment reports and import them
automatically into your CRM system – no more
manual batch imports!
7. I am interested, what are the next steps?
Is your charity using
ThankQ, the Raiser’s
Edge or Salesforce?

Intro: what I do at JG. I’m not from a technical background, for any technical questions speak to Anthony Fawkes – show who Anthony is.As you are all from different charities and presumably use different CRM systems, I’ll give you a general overview of how the API works and how it can benefit your charity rather than going into the details of existing integrations. How many people here are from charities using RE? ThankQ? Salesforce? And Care (IRIS)?
What is an API? A bridge between 2 websites or software, allowing them to communicate with each other – ie exchange data. In the case of the data API, the JG reporting area can be linked up to a CRM system, fundraising and financial data from JG can then flow into the CRM system, and data such as custom codes can sent back to JG. This is all done behind the scenes with minimal manual intervention, we’ll see how this can save you time and reduce the risk of manual errors. Is anyone not familiar with the data you can get from JG and what custom codes are?
Just a visual representation of how the API works, you can see the flow of data from JG to CRMs, and this is a two way stream, data is also sent from CRMs back to JustGiving.Use example: Joe Bloggs create a page, his data flows through the API to your CRM. You then know who Joe is, what event he is doing and what his motivation is, and you can then send the relevant custom codes back to JG
Situation: On the one hand: We have launched new products etc: this reinforces the need for a tight integration between JG data and your CRM system so that you can keep track of how your supporters are fundraising on JG and what their motivations areOn the other hand: We are not a CRM specialist etc: data API is the best, most innovative way to do thisConflict: We ran a survey in 2012 which showed that 61% of charities are interested in connecting JustGiving with their CRM system - Data manipulation (exporting, importing etc) often cited as major pain point for current usersSolution: the Data Api!
Time saving efficiencies: reduce the time your teams spend dealing with fundraising and financial data coming from JustGiving: this includes, finding and importing the details of new fundraising pages created for your charity on JustGiving, adding custom codes to JustGiving pages, importing financial information into JustGivingReduce Human error: because the transfer and import of data is automated, the risk of manual errors in the allocation of income is greatly reducedIncrease custom insight: learn more about your fundraisers and their activity on JG thanks to a timely and exhaustive import of dataImprove supporter care: Learn more about your supporters’ fundraising activity on JG and engage with them from day 1 with tailored comms thanks to a timely and exhaustive import of data
Just to get a little bit into the details of it…Retrieve lists of fundraising pages: exactly the same data you would normally receive in an excel report from your JG charity account – if 100 pages were created for your charity last week you can automatically import the details of these 100 pagesRetrieve payment reports: income can be automatically allocated to the correct fundraisers / events / funds or campaigns based on the custom codes added to fundraising pagesIn other words, the API can be used to automate all the manual steps which you charity would normally have to got through to identify new fundraisers on JG and import the financial data into your CRM database
Yes: Good news! We have already teamed up with these CRM vendors and they have built tools which are integrated within their product and use the data API. Each implementation is slightly different but essentially they cover all the points we discussedNo: If your charity is using Donorflex or CARE for example. Currently there are no off the shelf solutions available but we are working with a number of vendors and are willing to speak to all of them. Contact Anthony or myself for more infoInterested in building your own solution? If you would like to find more technical information about the API to see if you could integrate it with your CRM system yourself, we have all the documentation available on our website.
