2. CONTENTS Editor’s Note
The other week, I accidentally gave my 18-month-old a truly atrocious haircut.
Her fringe had been flopping around in her eyes for about a fortnight and the
thought of strapping her down in the hairdresser’s chair while she protested
loudly was not something I felt was a productive use of anyone’s time. So, while
she was having her afternoon nap, I approached her locks with a pair of
scissors. Except I’m no Tony (nor Guy) and I only had a pair of nail scissors to
hand, so it ended up a bit slanted. It left me with no option, but to take a little bit
more off the longer side. But it was still wonky. So I evened up the other side.
And so it went on.
To cut a long story short (or a fringe as the case may be), the result was a much
shorter and still pretty uneven hairdo. Her completely aghast father exclaimed
she looked like Paul Weller, confiscated the scissors and sent me swiftly out to
purchase as many different hair accessories as possible to hide the fact I’d
made our toddler look like the Modfather.
I like to learn from my mistakes, though, and something surprising came out of
this one. It wasn’t that I should leave all matters of hair styling to the
professionals (although this is probably one I need to consider). It was that,
once she’d sufficiently ensured that all new hair accoutrements had been torn
out of her hair and thrown on the floor, she got on with the business of being a
toddler. It was only really us that cared about how she looked. It took me back
to the good old days when my only requirement regarding clothing was that it
wasn’t wool and ‘scratchy’. Quite at what point the pressure to conform set in, I
don’t remember.
My daughter’s disregard of other people’s judgements is not confined to how
she looks either. Quite often, she feels like having a spontaneous spin around. It
can be anywhere that takes her fancy – in the middle of the library, halfway up
the frozen food aisle, a little too close to the breakables in the homeware section
of a shop. It’s usually accompanied by a great shriek of laughter too.
And why not?
Of course, she’s not all sweetness and light and if she doesn’t get what she
wants or physically can’t do something, she can throw a tantrum like you
wouldn’t believe (naturally she gets this from her father – if you’ve met me, you
know I’m a pure delight), but five minutes later, a smile of epic proportions is
back on her face. Failure, humiliation, the past or the future are simply not things
you will ever find a toddler concerning themselves with.
Fear isn’t at the top of their priority list either. A child will jump off a swing,
cartwheel down a hill, dive into a pool and test their boundaries constantly. Yes,
they get hurt, but they cry and howl then get back up and invariably do it again.
Do they even have a comfort zone?
They are the main character in their own story. The world, they believe, revolves
around them. They delight in their accomplishments and relish them. And while a
little humility goes a long way, how fantastic is it that they’re living life on their
terms? As long as they’re impressed with what they’ve done, that’s enough.
That embracing of what you love to do and living life with such passion and
disregard of others’ opinions is something we need to learn from the little
people in our lives. It’s a limitless determination that as an adult we need to
practice more.
Start marching forward regardless of the obstacles or of what other people say.
Pursue what you want to do with the same unwavering resolve you had when
you were young. If you get knocked down, cry and deal with it, then get back up.
If you’re left with a scar, treat it like a child – something to show off proudly, a
sign that you went through something and survived. And if you feel like a spur-of-
the-moment spin – go for it. I have it on good authority, from someone who
looks a little like Paul Weller, that it’s a great way to pass the time.

5. Lisa Burke, Managing Director Business update
News from Lisa...
My absolute favourite part about Kleeneze is watching
someone use it to change their life. You’ve probably
heard me say it before, but I never tire of seeing it.
Sometimes it’s the unlimited income that helps people
to achieve the things they’ve always wanted to, but
often it’s simply hearing of those who can now spend
more time with their families and really living life that
is so moving. The freedom that this business can
afford, so you can own and control what you do with
your life is remarkable.
This edition of Team Talk features stories from people who had
very different reasons for joining Kleeneze. What they all have in
common, though, is the desire to better their lives and through this
fantastic opportunity they can do that.
These are your personal reasons why that keep you motivated.
Here at HQ, our personal reason why is to provide you with those
tools and support that you need to achieve it. We’re constantly
looking for ways to help you earn the income that you deserve.
Over the past several months, thousands of you received cash
bonuses and free catalogues for achieving your 30 Day and
Sponsoring and Support Bonuses.
This also means many in the Network are in line to qualify for a
brand new Mini – yours to own for a year. To think of a fleet
of Kleeneze-branded Minis driving up and down the country
is fantastic.
Not to mention, those who have also
qualified for a ticket in our draw to win a
place on the Jamaica Destination. The
Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay, where
our Jamaica qualifiers will be staying
throughout the trip, is simply paradise on
earth and this is going to be a true once-in-
a-lifetime experience.
Of course, this January – at the New Year
Showcase – not only will we find out who
has won that coveted place on
Destination 2015, we’ll also be revealing the next incredible
Kleeneze Destination! These are all remarkable milestones to
qualify for on your way as you build your business, so make sure
you join us to find out where in the world we’ll be taking you next!
In the lead up to Christmas, we always see a sharp rise in retailing
and recruitment. Is it because this is the main season to shop?
Possibly. Is it because Christmas often comes with a fair amount of
money worries for many? Perhaps.
However, those who are experiencing money worries at this time
of year still feel the strain into January, February, March and
beyond. Those who shop with us at Christmas are still customers
all year around. You’ve already made that step to change your life
and secure your future, so harness all that energy that’s there in
these few months leading up to the festive season and use it all
year around, by helping others achieve their dreams too.
Because that’s what this business is all about really. Helping
someone reach Gold is always far more exciting than when you hit
it yourself! Be a leader in your own Kleeneze business and life
story. And as Jim Rohn once said: “A good objective of leadership
is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those
who are doing well to do even better.”
Speaking of which, we’re seeing some incredible retail successes
across various social media platforms being shouted about lately,
which is just great. This method is a great way to get additional
orders and boost your income even further. Many thanks go to
Platinum SED Andy Boswell who has set up a Facebook group for
everyone to share ideas and tips on how to move products online -
https://www.facebook.com/groups/digitalsalestips.
We’ll be talking more about this method of retailing in next month’s
Team Talk, along with all your great results and success stories so
keep them coming in to shoutout@kleeneze.co.uk.
Much love,
OCTOBER 2014 TEAMTALK 5
6. Macmillan Coffee Morning
We’rE NeaRlY tHeRe!
Last month saw a spectacular run of Cofffee Mornings up and down the country bringing the total amount raised for our
official charity, Macmillan, nearly to £100,000! Well done everyone who took part. Let’s keep it going!
6 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
The Vision Group had their Coffee Morning in rather an
unusual setting – the ancient city of Pompeii! Here they are
raising a cup on Mount Vesuvius and later in Herculaneum.
“We ran our first ever Macmillan Coffee morning on Saturday 27 September
between 10am and 1pm. Our first customers arrived dead on 10am and Fred
served them with tea and coffee. We then had a steady trickle of people
popping in with donations - some large some small. We even had some
passer-by’s donating. Some of our neighbours also popped in for a drink and a
chat with donations.
I baked 8 cakes of various flavours which can be seen in the photo. We also
did a tombola using Kleeneze products. On the day we raised £94.30, but since
then we have continued to be given donations from customers who could not
attend on the day. As of now, we have raised £120, not bad for our first
attempt! What great customers and neighbours we have.”
Fred and Karen Mason, Senior Distributors
“We raised £416 at our Coffee Morning, including donations given after
the event. We ran it with a friend and were really overwhelmed by
people’s generosity.
We only baked two cakes, but with everyone’s donations, we had an amazing
array of them – to the point where we were sending people home with them!
The Christmas canvasses we’d bought at the Kleeneze Showcase went down
really well at our raffle too.
At least 50 people came. All the children were really well behaved and helped
lots from putting out cakes to sorting and selling the raffle tickets. My
daughters Amy (10) and Sarah (7) made loom band charms and bracelets to
sell and Amy donated a teddy and made a guess the name of the teddy game
herself. They also sold temporary tattoos which had been donated. They and
their friends then went round and asked everyone if they wanted to buy
anything or play guess the name of the teddy and altogether they personally
raised over £36. I was one proud mum.
When we originally planned this coffee morning Jo and I were hoping to raise
about £100 so we were over the moon with that total.”
Esther Watson, Platinum Senior Executive Distributors
7. We felt we needed to
change our way of life
OCTOBER 2014 TEAMTALK 7
Inspirational stories
“A better quality of life and family time
is what’s important to Sarah and
John. They have a get up and go
attitude and a wonderful, positive
vibe about them both”
Jason Belverstone and Linda Brooks
“John and I have been together for 16 years. In that time we have worked
hard, sometimes not seeing each other for weeks, apart from having our
children. We have three beautiful daughters who all have a diagnosis of
autism. We are also carers for my mum who is disabled and needs assistance
around the clock.
We had got to the point at which we felt we needed to change our way of life
so, not only could we reduce our stress levels, but so we could also improve
our quality of life for the whole family. The only dilemma was – how? John was
stuck in his job working long hours on the checkouts at Tesco and going
nowhere, while I desperately needed more support at home.
A friend of ours for many years, Jason Belverstone had joined Kleeneze and
we watched on as he started to build a successful business. Together with his
partner, Linda Brooks, we saw how excited he was about the opportunity, so
one night we invited them around for a meal and we were convinced it was
worth a look.
On 5 July, we started our own Kleeneze business. I worked the first month
alone and during that time I not only achieved the 30 Day Bonus and therefore
250 free catalogues, I also qualified for our 10% bonus. Through doing all of
that on my own, we realised this could work for us. Together we made a life-changing
decision. After 18 years’ service, John left his job and we joined
forces to work and build our business together.
Now we look forward to each day and the new people we will meet. It’s an
exciting challenge – catalogues versus children and time, but we face it all with
a smile, juggling it all to fit our lives. We are now together and we are happy.
Finally, we have a future to look forward to instead of wishing things could be
different. We can only grow stronger from here. Watch this space,
as they say!”
Sarah and John Simms, Silver Distributors
Just as Team Talk goes to print we hear that Sarah and John
have hit 13% and doubled their income! Great news! - Ed

• Do the same again, within your first 30 days, and you’ll receive another 50 Main Books and 50 Specialogues
• There is no cap on how many times you can qualify
• You’ll receive 50 snap cat bags and 50 order forms, so you’ll have everything you need when you need it
• Complete retail orders of £600/€720 within your first 30 days and we’ll send an extra 50 catalogues with that qualifying order too!
8. Directors Club
Come along and join the club
There’s one club that everyone was talking about this year at the Christmas Gala Dinner. Its members
consisted of those who achieved fantastic personal retail consistently or produced great new business sales
or held their business at 5-wide over a period of time.
However, many of those same people in the Directors Club had achieved other goals along the way.
We spoke to Michael Khatkar to find out a little bit more about this prestigious incentive.
Here’s what some of our 2014 Directors Club qualifiers had to
say on how they qualified and what the experience was like:
“I joined Kleeneze in May 2010, after retiring at 67 years of age and it was
the best thing that ever happened to me. I wish I’d known about the
opportunity years ago.
Solely on retail we managed to qualify for the Directors Club. Going on stage
with my wife, Frances, was unbelievable. I’ve never had recognition like that
before, which was so unexpected, as I would have put out my catalogues to
my customer base anyway.
It shows what can be done. Next year, by following the same system, we
could be on the stage once more. As for the champagne reception, it was
first class meeting all the distributors that I’ve only ever read about or seen
on screen. We could get used to this lifestyle even now at 71 years of age!”
Bob and Frances Fraser, Silver Distributors
8 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
“The Directors Club is a great
foundation to achieve and continue
your business from. It will inspire
you to achieve, earn you a great
income, as well as the rewards and
recognition that Kleeneze is known
for. Only in Kleeneze!”
“This is the second time we have achieved the Directors Club accolade and
on both occasions we were simply maintaining our usual Kleeneze service.
Towards the final few periods of the qualification deadline we were mindful
of our total order values so having this incentive in place did keep us
motivated so as to ensure we qualified.
Having the opportunity to rub shoulders with Kleeneze’s network elite and
its directorship is a rare occurrence. With champagne flowing and smiles all
round, this was the perfect start to a memorable evening.”
Leo and Amanda ten Bruggencate, Gold Distributors.
“We have qualified for the Directors Club every year for the past three
years. It’s always something we set out to do – why wouldn’t we? The
rewards are vast – Showcase tickets, fabulous Gala Dinner and champagne
“The Directors Club rewards consistent retail and helps people maintain their
business,” he explained. “It’s the perfect opportunity to set yourself a goal and reach
it, month after month. For this, Kleeneze will award you with the recognition you
deserve, including a champagne reception and invite to the Gala Dinner at the
Christmas launch.
“The Directors Club is a great foundation to achieve and continue your business from.
It will inspire you to achieve, earn you a great income, as well as the rewards and
recognition that Kleeneze is known for. Only in Kleeneze!”
If you missed out on this year’s Directors Club, you may be pleased to hear that we’re
running it again for 2015! By qualifying, you’ll receive on-stage recognition in front of
thousands of your peers; be presented with a reward pin, certificate and gift; attend
the Christmas Showcase and Gala Dinner free of charge; and enjoy a VIP pre-Gala
Dinner Champagne reception with Directors from HQ and Kleeneze Premiers.
9. OCTOBER 2014 TEAMTALK 9
reception – all for free. Not forgetting the recognition on
stage in front of 3,000-plus people.
Walking on stage to be recognised was a
wonderful feeling; it has always been a very special
memory for us.
The Champagne Reception before the Gala Dinner just
gets better each time, sharing stories and good times
with likeminded people.
The Gala Dinner itself - the chance to dress up and eat
fabulous food, be entertained by an incredible band
and be surrounded by good friends.
Are we looking to achieve Directors’ Club in 2015? You
bet. On top of this, by aiming for Directors Club, our
income is naturally higher. It’s a win-win situation for
us and a great reward for our efforts.”
Kevin Davies and Deborah Parker, Gold Distributors.
“It is an amazing feeling being recognised on stage for your achievements; it
made us feel very special and proud of achieving Directors Club for the
first time.
The champagne reception was wonderful and it was an opportunity to meet
and sizzle with other Directors Club qualifiers.
This was a goal we set at the Christmas Showcase in 2013 and we would
love to qualify for Directors Club again in 2015.”
Teresa and Finbarr McCarthy, Gold Distributors
“We had the most amazing day at this year’s Christmas
Showcase. To stand on stage and be recognised for
building your business is so exciting. To look out and
see everyone, especially your sponsors and team
members cheering you on, is such a buzz.
The Champagne Reception makes you feel like a VIP.
We were able to enjoy it with other members of our
team too, which just made the evening extra special.
The whole experience was just ‘wow’!”
Pauline and Gary Jones,
Gold Distributors

10. Boost your retail profit
Know your products,
change your business
Who’s your best customer? If you didn’t answer “ME!” you could be missing a trick. You’ll often hear some of the most
successful people within the Network say that you have to be your own best customer, but what does it actually mean?
This month, Team Talk caught up with, Silver Executive Distributor, Debbie Gee to find out how she is being her
own best customer and the result this has on her business.
It’s always much easier to
promote something when you’ve
used it and you know it works
well. If you’re enthusiastic about
something, you can’t help but tell
others about it
“The first time I ever tried Wipe Out Stain Remover, I used it on a mark on
the dashboard of the car. It brought it up straightaway. I kept the bottle in
the car and then one day I was at a friend’s house and they spilt some wine.
I said: ‘hold on a second; I’ve got something for that in the car’. It worked
on the stain straight away and I sold them the bottle.
Ever since that day, I always make sure we have at least 10 bottles of it in
the house. Everyone who comes around asks me how I keep my carpets so
clean and ends up leaving with a bottle of it.
I took a bottle over to my mum’s house and off the back of that I’ve sold
about ten in a week through her recommending it. I use it on everything.
It brings any mark off it really does. Now they’re doing the promotion,
people are out there trying it now and saying they didn’t realise it was so
good. Giving away my secret! You need people to sample it. It sells itself, it
really does.
It’s always much easier to promote something when you’ve used it and you
know it works well. If you’re enthusiastic about something, you can’t help
but tell others about it. When you’re around someone’s house or chatting to
a friend and (using Wipe Out as an example) and they say they’ve got these
marks on the wall they can’t get off, you immediately think about that
product and suggest it. People want it there and then, so when it’s a cheap
product it’s worth having a few to hand.
And if you can’t recommend something personally, you can always do what
my partner, David, does. He always tells his customers how his mum swears
by the over cleaner and that works for him.
As it’s not feasible for us to know all the hundreds of products we do, we
have product promotions on our team webinars where we ask someone to
hold the product up and explain a bit more about it. It really helps others get
to know the products.
Coming up to Christmas, the obvious ones for you to use and recommend
are the Christmas cards, because everyone has them. One of my family likes
Scottie dogs, and we’ve got them on one of the card sets, so I posted it onto
her wall and said ‘look at these, aren’t they cute?’ This is a great way to get
products out there, because you’re not asking them to buy anything, just
look at it. It makes them feel like you’ve really taken notice too, because
you’ve thought about them.
10 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
Something similar happened with
a local group that I’m a member
of on Facebook. Someone posted
a picture of a spider on it and
there was uproar! You can
imagine how many
arachnaphobics there are out
there and they were livid – there
were over 200 posts about it! I
took the opportunity to post our
Spider Repellent and suddenly
everyone was asking where they
could get it. For the few that
were saying that we need
something that’s not going to kill
them, I posted the Catch-a-Bug
Insect and Spider Trap.
Being in these local groups and seeing what people are talking about can be
really useful. All you’re doing is providing a solution in a very gentle way. It’s
almost funny and you can put a bit of personality behind it.
I always think around this time of year, parties are great for product sales
too. Have a Christmas party, get around £200-worth of products and leave
them on your table and you’ll be surprised at how quick it’s all snapped up.”
Do you have tips that you’d like to share with the Network?
Let us know at teamtalk@kleeneze.co.uk.

12. What’s your big picture?
We’re in the enviable position here at Team Talk of hearing stories of people who are taking the steps to build a custom-made
future of their dreams. What’s truly remarkable, though, is that – although the majority of people start to make a little
bit of extra cash per week – their actual reasons why they start the business are rarely as basic.
12 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
Your personal reason why can
be a great motivator, but it can
also be a great deflator too if
the end result seems so far
away. By creating mini goals, it
leads a convenient path on to
your great big dream goal
Personal development
“My why is to no longer be surrounded by negative people and jobs where you
give your all for nothing,” said Silver Distributor, Gayle Whiting. “To make a
difference to my family with the flexibility to work around my son and look after
my dad. To have a secure financial future and be able to finance yearly visits to
my family in Australia. My husband and I have grafted so hard for 15 years to
be able to have a nice house and pay our mortgage off, but we have been
caught in the trap – like many others – of having no time, energy or money left
to enjoy our life.”
Gayle has big goals, but it’s reasons like these that the most successful
achieve what they set out to. Too often, people’s reason why isn’t enough,
because it doesn’t align with the larger context of their lives.
For instance – your reason for joining Kleeneze is to earn £50 to pay a little
extra off your mortgage each month. Would you find it more of a motivation if
that goal was to pay off your mortgage by a specific date, at which point you
know that you will be debt free and your money will be your own to spend on
yourself, your family – giving you more financial freedom and security than
ever before?
“Originally I started Kleeneze to earn an extra £50 a week, but now it’s
about getting a secure financial retirement,” said Gold Distributor,
Pauline Jones.
A major reason why for many people who join Kleeneze is financial security.
With good reason. Earlier this year, a report stated that those planning their
retirement should try and plan for an income of at least £15,000 a year. With
the revised state pension is expected to be worth at least £7,500 a year when
it comes in in April 2016, people need to find a way to put aside that extra
when often they don’t have the extra to put aside.
Take that one step further, though, when planning out your goals. Why do you
want to have that amount for retirement? What are you planning on doing with
it? Don’t skip over this important step when it comes to goal setting, as it’s one
of the most powerful things you can do.
Create a compelling vision for your future and put pen to paper. What does
your life look like? Your family? Your home? Your business? If what you’ve
written down doesn’t motivate you and excite you, you need to go back to the
drawing board. Think of places you’ve been or want to go, the people and
things that mean the most to you. Let your imagination run free – your goals
should be limitless, because anything is possible if your reason why is big and
powerful enough.
Scary? Overwhelming? You’ve done it right then. The next step is to banish
that fear by breaking them down. After all, your big, scary goals are probably
going to take a bit of time to achieve, so you need smaller ones so you can
celebrate your successes along the way.
Your personal reason why can be a great motivator, but it can also be a great
deflator too if the end result seems so far away. By creating mini goals, it leads
a convenient path on to your great big dream goal.
Whether those mini goals are personal ones (save up x amount before x date)
or business ones (achieve Bronze by x date), write down what they are and
when you want to reach them. Put those dates in your diary and strategise
with your Upline on how you’re going to achieve them. Make an action plan of
what it’s going to take to get there, whose help you’ll need and what daily
activities you need to take to reach your goal.
Whatever your goals and visions for the future are, you won’t reach them if
you give up. Motivation doesn’t magically appear anew every morning (sadly)
and you’ll have obligatory slumps on the way to success. Ride them out. That
motivation will return. Your goal is a long journey, but those slumps are mere
bumps in the road. Keep track of your goals, remind yourself of your progress
daily and keep going!

MY PERSONAL REASON WHY
“Our personal why is our family and what drives us harder
is our beautiful grandchildren.”
Mary and Peter Kettle,
Silver Distributors
“My ‘why’ is my four kids and my hubby. I’m there for them
whenever they need me. No more stress as a manager
working 60+ hours a week. I choose how many hours
now and it’s fantastic.”
Lianne Martin,
Silver Distributor
“Getting married next year and driving Route 66 for our
honeymoon. We’re both planning on sacking the boss
within 5 years. We want our children to have a stable and
amazing upbringing and we don’t want to say ‘no, we can’t
afford that’.”
Dave Evans and Kelly McGettigan,
Silver Distributors
“My reason why is for us to have the flexibility and income
to be an active part in our children’s lives, as well as to put
both our boys through university. Kleeneze has given us an
opportunity to have a wonderful life.”
Sylvia and Ram Laing,
Silver Senior Executive Distributors
“Our personal reason why is to have the choice of how we
live our lives. To have quality time as a family and not miss
the important moments that you can never get back.”
Nick and Grace Sassanelli,
Senior Distributors
“My reason why is to be able to live life to the full with total
freedom of mind and to show, first-hand, to my 2 sons that
they can be anything they want to be if they surround
themselves with the right people.”
David Miller,
Gold Distributor
“Kleeneze has given the hope and security to make life-changing
decisions. It’s not about just the money – the
personal development opens the world. The reason why
changes. As 50 approaches, Kleeneze means that complete
change of life is still possible when others are talking about
the rundown to retirement.”
Adele Hewitt,
Senior Distributor
14. My Kleeneze story
I work Kleeneze around
multiple jobs
The number of people working part-time, because they can’t find a full time job, has shot up over the course of the year to
1.4 million (a record high), according to government statistics. At the same time, the number of people working in
temporary jobs for the same reason also rose.
More and more people are now turning to Kleeneze, as the flexible nature of
the business, means it can easily slot around all those other commitments in
your life. Silver Distributor, Raj Gosavi chose the opportunity for just
that reason.
“Initially I was looking for a bit of extra cash to pay off my two credit cards,”
explained Raj. “However, I also needed something that wouldn’t interrupt
my existing jobs. I recently graduated in sound production and it’s hard to
get full-time employment in that industry. I freelance as an audio engineer
and entertainment DJ during weekends, but I also am a voluntary radio
presenter and do other freelance work within radio.”
Raj also takes private tuitions for producing dance music once a week and
this is all on top of his day job as a domestic cleaner – spring cleaning, oven
and carpet cleaning.
“I’m just a normal family guy trying to juggle multiple jobs in order to make a
living and still do what I love to do. I was initially sceptical about Kleeneze,
but my sponsor (Jaime de Caso) answered all my questions and I started on
the instalment option.
Raj isn’t alone in choosing to develop a portfolio career – over
1 million people in the UK have at least two part-time jobs rather than full-time
employment.
Nearly 25% of Kleeneze Distributors use the opportunity to top up their
existing salary in their spare time, around their jobs and family.
“Despite being so busy, I really make time for Kleeneze. It paid off, because
in the first four weeks I earned £211 and qualified for the 30 Day Bonus,
claiming 300 free catalogues in this Period.
“I immediately invested those earnings back into my business. I can really
see the bigger picture now. There are so many more advantages to being a
Kleeneze Distributor aside from making money. It’s all about securing my
future. My next goal is to take my wife on holiday.”

SEPEMBER 2014 TEAMTALK 15
My Kleeneze story
“In May 2013, I made the decision to re-join Kleeneze after being out of the
business due to illness. In the last few years, I’ve become a lot better and
know I’d be able to return to work. However, I still needed something
flexible in case I had a few bad days. Graeme was working full time as a
courier and my two children, both whom have illnesses, were at school and
college, another reason I needed flexibility. No conventional job could give
me that.
I started putting out 50 books a day and my first few cheques were around
the £200 mark. I had a great Upline (David Bibby) and started to read books
to improve my self-development and my attitude. I started becoming a lot
more positive which also started to rub off onto our daughter at school.
In September, Graeme had to leave courier work after an accident, which is
when we decided to go full time in the business. Thanks to my self-development
I knew we could grow quickly and announced that in Period 12
we would achieve Gold Distributor status. We had no team but I believed in
Kleeneze, the Christmas Catalogue was amazing and I had something I
hadn’t had before: belief, excitement and sheer determination not to fail.
We sat down and put a plan together halfway through Period 11 and worked
out what sales we needed to do per week and per day and how many books
we needed to put out to achieve that figure. Graeme did the leg work and I
did everything else - coffee mornings with friends and a Facebook page that
my friends shared to their friends. I promoted the higher end products in the
Plus catalogue, selling lots of the 3 tray buffet server and the Christmas
tree. We put incentives on for our customers and chocolates in the
catalogue bags with a Christmas card. The response was amazing, but it
wasn’t all plain sailing!
Our car broke, we had picks up of £25 out of a few hundred books, there
were hiccups every week but we didn’t let it stop us. We worked around our
challenges and at precisely ten to nine on the Thursday end of period, we
put our final order on and did our £9000 target by about £200! I phoned our
Upline in tears. Bearing in mind, at the beginning of the last day we still
needed £1600 in orders, he assumed we hadn’t done it. When I told him we
had, he asked me why I was crying and I simply said ‘because we had done
it’ it was such a huge achievement for us, not just in the business but
personally too.
Our cheque went from £435 to £2,743 in just 4 weeks and yes we are
planning to do it again this year. We know with a positive attitude, an
amazing company behind us anything is possible!
Our Upline had said if we did achieve our goal of Gold he would take us away
for the weekend to Paris. We had never been out of the country and due to
my illnesses and panic attacks I never dreamed we would go anywhere.
When David rang us for our passport details we couldn’t give them as we
didn’t have passports. I am claustrophobic so when he mentioned the Euro
Tunnel I was terrified, but knew that it was something that I had to do as I
so desperately wanted to see Notre Dame. So we rushed to get passports
and in April 2014 we went to Paris. I didn’t even notice the tunnel, as I was
too excited. It was the trip of a lifetime and it has given us a new outlook
knowing that with Kleeneze we can enjoy so much, not just a great income!”

18. Our Kleeneze story
We joined for extra cash, but
Kleeneze became a lifeline
When Glynys Broad decided to take steps to change her life and joined Kleeneze, her husband Barry didn’t want anything to
do with it. He enjoyed his job and was adamant that dropping catalogues was something he would never do. However, then
life took an unexpected turn and suddenly Barry found that Kleeneze was the lifeline they needed.
“We initially joined Kleeneze back in 2005. Glynys was looking for a new
road to travel. She responded to an advert in the local paper to earn extra
money and a lady came round to see us to explain about the business. We
had a chat about it after she left, but I said: ‘It’s your choice, but dropping
catalogues is not for me.’”
At the time, Glynys was working full time as a care assistant in a nursing
home. She signed up and started working her business part time. At the
time, the couple had no car, no computer and hardly any money, but Glynys
threw herself into her new business.
“The books soon arrived,” said Barry, an former delivery driver for a
pharmaceutical company. “Glynys put them together and away she went
dropping them. When she went back to pick them up a couple of days later
there were orders in some of them from day one! I helped when I could by
driving round in the works van so Glynys could do her deliveries. I even
dropped her off in the mornings sometimes with her books and trolley;
bearing in mind I used to leave for work at 6am! She would then have to rely
on public transport, or a lift to get back home. It was so important for us to
plan our drops, as when you do not have a vehicle your time is even more
important. Not forgetting our sponsor who was a great help assisting us
with using her computer to place orders.”
Just three weeks into her new business venture, Glynys handed in her notice
and started Kleeneze full time. Three months later, the couple had enough
money to buy a second-hand car and computer. Glynys was regularly
retailing between 13% and 15% and the future was looking great. Then life
threw them a curveball.
“One weekend in April 2008, Glynys seemed to be taking a long time to get
up,” remembers Barry. “I shouted upstairs, but there was no answer, so I
went up. She was lying in bed unable to move. I managed to get her up and
back downstairs, but I could tell there was something seriously wrong. I
managed to get her to the doctors and he sent us straight to the hospital.
Glynys had had a stroke. It was a huge bombshell.
“Obviously there was no way she could work her business now, as she was
unable to walk. A few weeks later, when I returned home from work, I
discovered Glynys lying on the kitchen floor. She had been there for nearly
four hours.”
The very next day, Barry handed in his notice in to work to become Glynys’
carer. The couple spoke about what they were going to do to get by and
Glynys persuaded Barry to take over her customer base in Kleeneze.
18 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
“I admit it – I was converted.
I already knew it worked, because I’d
seen what Glynys had achieved, but I
suppose until you have a go yourself
there’s always a doubt. So it fell that I
took over the cataloguing part, while
Glynys did the ordering. We made a
good team – and still do”
Barry and Glynys Broad, Silver Distributors
19. “So off I went, dropping books,” said Barry. “I was ok, until I had to knock on
doors to get the books back! I was sweating, my heart was thumping, pulse
racing and mouth dry. I just couldn’t get it out of my head that I was
invading someone else’s space! I soon realised that I was being silly! Most
people hadn’t put their books out, because they wanted to ask how Glynys
was. They were so friendly and concerned about her. It took me forever to
do that first pick up!
“I admit it – I was converted. I already knew it worked, because I’d seen
what Glynys had achieved, but I suppose until you have a go yourself there’s
always a doubt. So it fell that I took over the cataloguing part, while Glynys
did the ordering. We made a good team – and still do.”
Every year in the UK, over 2.3 million adults become carers, not only losing
income because of their responsibilities, but also having to afford extra
costs for medicines, transport and even specialist equipment.
The situation as it was, Barry and Glynys decided to leave Kleeneze and
move to Ireland to live with Glynys’ son. However, six months later things
hadn’t gone to plan and they returned to Maidstone.
“We were now homeless, no car, and nearly all our belongings still back in
Ireland,” said Barry. “We eventually moved into a one bedroom flat, and
Glynys’ son moved back from Ireland, and in with us. Conditions were
cramped, but finally we have moved into a bungalow, and, fortunately for us,
Glynys now has a lifeline buzzer so if I’m out and there’s a problem there
can be someone there within 5 minutes; peace of mind for both of us.
“It was after the move that said to Glynys I need to get out and do
something as I can no longer sit indoors. I mentioned to Glynys about
starting Kleeneze again. She laughed and said: “What? You doing blanket
drops to build up a customer base? Yeah right!” Well after a bit of nagging
she gave in and I phoned Ian and Lorraine Balcombe. We had a chat with,
got all the up to date information, and after talking it over together we
decided to sign up again in September 2014.
In our first 3 weeks, I dropped over 1,000 books and retailed £946 earning
us £245.86 - not bad for a few hours ‘work’ every day. We hit our 10% level
in those first 3 weeks, and received 300 free books with the 30 Day
Bonus from Kleeneze!
“It’s not just the money, though. There’s another bonus, because I’m out
walking in the fresh air every day and I’m losing weight which will help with
my diabetes, as well as help me fulfil the first thing on my bucket list - a
tandem skydive!
So that’s our story so far. We are so glad we made the decision, and are
really just proud to be Kleeneze Distributors.”
Barry and Glynys Broad, Silver Distributors

OCTOBER 2014 TEAMTALK 19
20. Social media
You are what you tweet
Love it or loathe it, social media is now part of our daily lives. By no means do we believe that it replaces face-to-face network
marketing, but it’s a fact that many of your prospects and customers are on these platforms a great deal of the time, so don’t
miss a trick and familiarise yourself with the basics.
I’ve set up my Facebook and Twitter account,
so the easy peasy right?
One of the most common mistakes with social media that people make is not
to use it! It’s great that you’ve got your page or account, but without
regularly using it, you’re missing the point. It’s like buying catalogues and not
putting them out. Or even putting them out only once. You’re not going to get
the value out of it.
Less is more
There are now hundreds of social media platforms out there, but don’t be
fooled that you need to be on them all. It’s best picking one or two – four at
most – and actively using them well rather than trying to juggle the myriad
that are available.
Don’t be afraid to ditch one if it isn’t working for you either. You could drag it
out and try and make it work, but social media shouldn’t be something you
need to work too hard at. You do have a business to run as well after all!
First impressions count
You may not pre-judge people, but your prospects and customers might. First
impressions are important and long-lasting, so it’s worth taking a little extra
time to create a good profile.
Even if you’re protesting that your social media accounts are private and just
for friends, do you know what someone will see if they search your name on
Facebook? If it’s a profile of you during one drunken night in Ibiza
accompanied by a contact email of vodkarules@gmail.com, be aware that
this might not send the professional message you’re after. Make sure your
privacy settings are just that and set up a more public business profile.
Don’t be afraid to get personal
You don’t need to inform the masses what you had for your breakfast, but a
little personal information goes really far with social media. In fact, it’s what
gets you noticed. You want people to connect and engage with you, so make
sure you inject a bit of your personality into your account. Share things of
interest to you or you know will help people out. After all, remember, all work
and no play makes Jack’s page a bit dull.
20 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
Pick your battles
Unfortunately, social media isn’t always all joy and happiness and you will
encounter some negativity on there. Some people will just want a rise out of
you, so don’t give them the satisfaction of arguing on a public forum and
adding fuel to the fire – yes, even if it is a closed group. A wise piece of
advice with social media is never post anything that you wouldn’t be happy to
see on a large billboard in the middle of town.
Likewise, beware of deleting or hiding comments if you are admin for a page
or group. It will make you look like you have something to hide, which isn’t a
great trait. People will say what they’re going to say and at least if they’re on
your page you can monitor and respond.
Don’t abuse social media
Remember what you heard when you first joined Kleeneze? The catalogue
does the selling for you. Well, with social media, you and your posts do the
selling for you. When you post something make sure it’s of significance,
humorous, timely or even a tip, quote or advice you find interesting.
Try not to over-post either. Whereas it’s good to make your presence
known, posting all day long can make others tune out. Use your network the
right way.
Social media is not a numbers game
and likes do not equal sales or a
bigger team. Social media is about
relationships and the more friends
or followers you have, the more
those relationships will be diluted.
Real, engaged friends and fans will
become your advocates easily
21. Social media will never replace traditional
marketing, but is a great additional channel
to work alongside your everyday activity. If
you haven’t tried it yet, you’ve absolutely
nothing to lose – go on, give it a go!
OCTOBER 2014 TEAMTALK 21
It’s quality, not quantity
Social media is not a numbers game and likes do not equal sales or a bigger
team. Social media is about relationships and the more friends or followers
you have, the more those relationships will be diluted. Real, engaged friends
and fans will become your advocates easily.
Do unto others
Just because you’re online, behind your PC, doesn’t mean the usual rules of
social etiquette don’t apply. Be respectful and nice! Remember, whatever
you do on the Internet is a reflection of you and probably your business too,
so keep it positive and encouraging.
What you give out, you get back
Social media isn’t a one-way street. The more you engage with your friends
and followers, the more they will engage with you. This, in turn, fosters great
relationships, which is always good for business.
Share your story
We’re not talking about how much money you’ve made, but more about the
little successes you’re having along the way. ‘Skiving off’ with the kids on a
nice sunny day? Tell your network, because you can be sure there’ll be
someone in a hot stuffy office who was wishing they could do the same.
Jetting off on holiday or doing some home renovation? Let people know how
you afforded it. Let the success speak for itself and people will want
to know how.
Review your posts often
Every now and again take a look at your last five or ten social media posts
and updates and see them from your friends and followers point of view.
Would you like / share the post if you saw it on your newsfeed. Is it
something you would want to see? Does it help build relationships?
22. Carolyn Hornby
I won a trip to Venice!
What’s better than a free trip to Venice? A free trip to Venice in five-star, Kleeneze style, as reward for putting in that extra
effort to build your business, of course!
Silver Distributor, Carolyn Hornby worked hard this summer to beat her personal retail best from 2014 and as a result was
entered into Kleeneze’s Showcase draw and won an iPad Mini and a place on the Kleeneze European Destination, Venice.
We caught up with the mother of three, as she came back down to earth after her spectacular win to find out all about her
Kleeneze journey.
“I first joined Kleeneze in November 2010 when a friend sent me a message
on Facebook. At the time we had just returned from an all-inclusive holiday in
Turkey, paid for by a windfall. I was working in an accounts office and there
was no opportunity for working extra hours and I, like a lot of people in the
business, was after an extra £50 a week.
The main reason I joined was the flexibility it offered and this was important - I
was a working mum of 3 (my daughter was 16-years-old and two sons were
13 and 10). I was on the PTA of 2 of my children’s schools as well as being the
treasurer for the boys’ Sunday League football club. My youngest child was 10
at the time and didn’t like me away from home for more than an hour at a time
so a lot of my catalogue drops and collections were done in pockets of time
after work and at weekends around football training and matches.
As time passed, and the children got older I was able to spend longer dropping
and collecting books at a time so developed a better routine. In fact my
youngest now spends more time outside than I do.... and the extra income has
helped subsidise our daughter’s living expenses while she is at university.
Although no longer on the PTA, I still work and am now also secretary for the
junior football club and spend more time following our local Conference team
so the flexibility is as important as ever. I am still at the 10% level and have not
yet built a team but my retail has continued to increase slowly but surely which
is how I qualified for the Summer Retail challenge. I actually reached the
target a week or so before the deadline so was quite excited to be in with a
shot at winning an iPad at the Christmas Showcase on August 30th.
That day was quite emotional as I was at quite a low ebb personally and with
the business - I had chatted to my Upline, the fabulous Karen Boardman during
the lunch break then Peter Rea’s speech really hit some nerves. I said to Karen
that it felt like he was talking to me. So emotions were already flowing by the
time the draw took place. As Michael Khatkar was drawing the names out, I
kept thinking: ‘with all these winning names not here, there is even more
chance of winning the Venice trip’ It’s a lesson – you really need to be at these
conferences! I had already visualised myself winning an iPad and standing on
the stage and as we stood there, someone next to me asked if I felt lucky. My
reply was that I felt like I’d already won as I was on stage holding an iPad!!
What happened next wasn’t so much a blur but I don’t remember hearing or
seeing anything other than Lisa and Michael - I’ve no idea what the reaction of
people watching was like - it felt like I was in a bubble. Then I was suddenly
aware of someone pointing a camera at me. I hate having my photo taken so I
need to ensure that while I’m in Venice there are some better photos to be
shown where I don’t look like a rabbit caught in headlights!
22 TEAMTALK OCTOBER 2014
Sometimes it still seems unreal that in a few weeks’ time I’ll be in Venice on
the trip of a lifetime. I’m really looking forward to seeing Venice. I was there
briefly over 30 years ago but have never been to Burano and Murano and they
look amazing. I’ve heard about Kleeneze trips from others in the 10 Steps team
who all say how fantastic they are - still can’t believe that I’m going to
experience one for myself. I just hope I can soak up the experiences and learn
from some of the other qualifiers. Some aspects will be out of my comfort zone
so it’s going to be an amazing opportunity to try and stretch myself - something
that Kleeneze has helped with over the past 4 years.
As for that low ebb – it seems to have magically disappeared. Yes I still get
bad pick-ups as everybody does but a little voice in my head keeps saying ‘Just
do it’. It also shows that when you are feeling down, you need to be at a
meeting or attend a webinar or conference and when you’re feeling good, the
meeting needs you!
23. We believe that recognition is essential. We value all the hard work you put into your businesses on a daily basis and,
as such, the next few pages are dedicated to YOU!
Here are the names of those whose achievements are very much to be shouted about this Period.
In no other business will you find such a recognition and reward scheme! Congratulations to all of you who achieved
your goals in Period 10 and, for our new starters, we hope to see your name on these pages very soon!
