Formative Assessment: informal or formal assessments given throughout a unit
that monitor student learning and provide ongoing feedback for instructors to
improve their teaching and students to improve their learning
Summative Assessment: formal assessments given at the end of a unit to evaluate
student learning compared to a benchmark or standard

4. Formative Assessments
Exit Tickets: Small pieces of paper that students put by the door when they leave
the classroom. Students write down a short description of what they learned that
day or answer a question about the target grammar. This can be paper or digital.
Try an app like Padlet for a quick digital exit ticket.
Students can respond from their phones.

EduPuzzle: Embed your own questions in an uploaded or YouTube video.

Student Teaching: Have students design a lesson teaching the target grammar
to another class. Find a buddy classroom and have your students present their
lessons to an authentic audience.
Web 2.0 Tools:
- Create an infographic that uses target grammar on Canva.
- Make a movie on Animoto that incorporates the target grammar.
