They felt that they deserved their own government system where THEIR voices would be heard and THEIR opinions valued and considered. This is not the most important reason because they had always wanted this, in fact, New France to the north wanted this as well, this wasn’t the turning point it was simply a strong weighing factor to why they finally decided to go to war with their mother country. Our Top Five ~#4 10/20/2010 Katey Snihur and Vanessa Averill 5 James Madison ~ Fourth President of the United States of America (March 4, 1809 to March 4, 1817) There was taxation without representation This is definitely a major factor to the American Revolution because the people were being taxed more and more heavily and they weren’t entirely sure about what for. Naturally people like to know where and why their hard earned “money” (in the form of produce, live stalk, etc.) is going. When the taxes got steadily heavier the people demanded to know what was going on back home. When they were denied that knowledge, they began to consider a revolution. This isn’t the most important because they didn’t actually decide to revolt because of this, this just brought the idea to the table. Because they were unhappy they were more willing to come to the agreement of a rebellion. It’s not the most important because it only effected their feelings for the British empire, it didn’t make them actually rebel.
