1. How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
2. My film represents gender portrayal. The main
character is female, who are commonly portrayed
to be one of the following archetypes in media
products:
Femme Fatale
Loyal Wife
Damsel in Distress
In this instance, the female character is the
Damsel in Distress as she is clearly the victim
running away from something and being attacked;
she is seen as vulnerable and the film wouldn’t
have the same effect if the main character was a
male as they are stereotypically seen as the
heroes.
3. Bad Moon ( 1996):
While on an expedition in Nepal, photo-journalist Ted
and his girlfriend are attacked by a werewolf that kills her
and savagely bites him.
4. My film also represents age. The costume
and the actress show the character to be
quite young. This again shows her
vulnerability because teenagers are mostly
seen as quite naive; an older woman might
seem less vulnerable.
5. I Was A Teenage Werewolf (1957):
Tony Rivers, a troubled teenager at Rockdale High, is
known for losing his temper and overreacting. Within two
sessions of therapy, it is suggested to Tony that he was
once a werewolf.
