A typical day for a lawyer involves answering around 100 emails, making agreements or giving advice. They work from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. When home, they continue working on cases. In court, lawyers must convince the judge their side is right while listening to witnesses, the opposing lawyer, and clients. Lawyers need strong writing, public speaking, critical thinking, and quick decision-making skills to draft arguments, respond to opponents, and think on their feet in the courtroom. Becoming a lawyer requires an undergraduate degree, three years of law school, and passing the bar exam.

A Day In The Life Of A Lawyer
My uncle goes to work at 7:30 AM, and returns home at about
6:00 PM. I have discovered that this is a typical time frame for
most lawyers. When a lawyer is in his/her office, they answer
and receive about 100 emails a day. These emails consist of
making agreements with people arguing, and or giving them
advice. When a lawyer gets home, they will usually have some
work to do regarding the case they are working on.

The Court
If there is a problem that can’t agreed upon, the case is taken
to court. Then, a lawyer must convince the judge why they are
right, and why everybody else is wrong. On days like this, the
majority of the lawyer’s time will probably be spent listening to
other people that are trying to settle the case. These people
may be witnesses, judges, the opposing Lawyer and his/hear
client, and the jury.

Why Are Those Skills Needed?
Writing the “script” is one of the the most important things to a
lawyer, if they are arguing in court. The script consists of the
information they need to respond to the opposing side, along
with an opening and closing statement.
If a case is being settled through emails, or in court, a lawyer’s
writing or speaking must be smooth and persuasive. When in
court, making smooth quick responses is key. If a lawyer
fumbles, they are more likely to loose the case, and fail the
client.
