The Maryville City Council met last night and approved placing a
renewal of the Capital Improvement Sales Tax on the April ballet.
The existing sales tax of one half of a percent was approved in 2008
for a ten year period, and is set to sunset September 2018.
Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the council discussed the
benefits of a twenty-year renewal of the sales tax.

McDanel adds if the sales tax renewal is approved by Maryville
voters, the revenue from the tax will go to three main areas of focus.

The renewal of the Capital Improvement Sales Tax will be placed on
the April 4th, 2017 ballot.
The city council also approved the "2017 Show Me Green Sales Tax
Holiday" that will waive city sales tax April 19th through the 25th.
