8. Part N
We decided not to use
Torodov’s Theory because ..
• His theory is a calm beginning ,
something goes wrong in
middle then everything is goes
either back to normal or
Happier at the end which is
more like a drama to us
• Our Idea Starts with a twist
both audience and character
are confused waiting to see
what’s going to happen next
which is what a psychological
thriller does.

9. Levi-Strauss looked at narrative
structure in terms of binary
oppositions. Binary oppositions are
sets of opposite values which reveal
the structure of media texts. An
example would be GOOD and EVIL –
we understand the concept of GOOD
as being the opposite of EVIL. Levi –
Strauss was not so interested in
looking at the order in which events
were arranged in the plot. He looked
instead for deeper arrangements of
themes. For example, if we look at
Science Fiction films we can identify
a series of binary oppositions.
10. • Immortality is the ability to live • Mortality is the condition of being
forever. mortal, or susceptible to death;
the opposite of immortality.
We show the binary opposition through the characters in the film.
The Main Character Being Human (Mortal) And the doll in which
has a supernatural sprit in it (immortal).
The struggle shows that when something is immortal it is tougher to
either control or win against.
11. Part O
Theories of Propp (Character Roles
• We will be applying theories
of Propp in our Opening
Sequence.
What I learnt from Propp is
that you can classify characters
by their roles and actions.
This links to our opening
sequence, because the
characters are all different and
we could understand each • We will be using theories of Propp
actors key function. to identify what characters do
what. In his theory Nia would be
(the Victim) and Kylie would be
(the helper)
12. Part Q
Age Certificate: 15
Location: Worldwide
Gender: Both Genders
Social Class: Working Class/ Youth
Must have an interest in how society
can affect on people lifestyles
Open minded to the reason
why/how people can make mistakes.
Sense of empathy
13. • Target audience: 15 – 18 year olds
• I say this because looking at the BBFC standards certain scenes might not
be appropriate for any age below that.
• Some scenes may be too harsh to watch.
• A lot of scenes will portray paranoia, uncertainly, mind confusing, a lot of
tension, leave you feeling a bit uneasy.
• I decided a bit too much for a below 15 year old to handle.
Gender – it is targeted at both
genders male and female.
There is nothing against any gender
or discriminating a particular gender
in the sequence.
14. • Social Class – We don‟t want to be too harsh on the
viewing of the sequence. But the social class is mostly
targeted at middle class and working class people.
Affordable and accessible to watch at any time.
Upper Interests – Psychological
thrillers, paranoia behaviour,
science, mental behaviour, toys
Upper Middle etc. this all relates to the
sequence
Middle Middle Hobbies
Watching Films
Playing Games
Lower Middle
Collecting Toys

Upper Lower
Poverty
17. Part R
Distribution Companies -
We will not be using Lionsgate because it‟s
too much of a multi million distribution
company and it wouldn‟t suit our budget.
It‟s mostly targeted at top American films.
We also we need to look at the budget of our
film before hand.
Could it be affordable?
Lionsgate don‟t do much Thriller movies focus is more on drama and
action
19. Part S
How we have met the BBFC standards
• “Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and
self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied.
Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised”
In Our open sequence no “dangerous behaviour” is not shown
at all.
. There may be frequent use of strong language (for example,
„f***‟). The strongest terms (for example, „cunt‟) may be
acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated
use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable
In our open sequence no profanity is used.
No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment
is appropriate for 15 year olds.
Our themes of revenge is not shown in the open sequence but if
it was it would have been appropriate for viewers of 15 +
20. Part T Style of Titling and Credits
In a motion picture, television
program, or video game, the
opening credits are shown at
the very beginning
Titling and Credits list the most
important members of the
production.
They are now usually shown as text
on a blank screen or static
pictures, or sometimes on top of
action in the show.
Sometimes there may or may not be
accompanying music.
21. Part U
We will make our own and not copy
anything on this slide due to copyrights
but these was a inspiration to our group This was used in the Movie “Dead
Silence” starts off slow (then after
26 seconds) it speeds up
Music That inspired
me … This was used in the grudge gaves us
the creeps which we thought was
effective
I liked the different
range of instruments
used I thought it would
be effective to use
This was used in “nightmare on elm
something similar to be street” this was inspiring because it
played in the open matches our idea it uses young girls
sequence when the (Around 5-7 years )saying horrific stuff in
credits are on when the tune of a nursery rhyme
everything was
suppose to be calm
