8 KEYS TO UNLOCKING THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS
Most of us travel through life simply hoping that good opportunities will just appear, and
that circumstances will line up properly for us so that we can take advantage of these
opportunities. Idealistically, this sounds great if this is the way life works. However, history
has shown us that an extremely small percentage of people actually have life unfold this way.
The unfortunate reality is that too many people leave their destiny in hands of “luck” or “blind
hope” instead of learning how to take control of their own destiny. They also don’t take the
time to learn how to notice opportunities appearing in front of them and what they are
capable of doing with these opportunities.
WHAT DO YOU WANT, CONTROL OR BLIND HOPE?
The 8 keys to mastering your life can create and help you to realize an explosion of
opportunities. Without these crucial keys you would have never known these opportunites
existed. All you have to do is:
1) Take the necessary time needed to think through each key clearly.
2) Do not stop thinking until you can see clearly and come up with an answer to each key.
3) Do not wait, Take Action Now!! Don’t tell yourself you can do it later. We know that
people who tell themselves that they can do it at some later time, usually will not.
KEY #1: DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT
To decide what you want in life is extremely important! Many people will go through life
never making up their mind on what they do want, and as a result, the successes in their life
are very few. They simply do not spend enough time thinking about what they really want and
therefore, never come up with the answers that can transform their experiences. They go
through life never really knowing. If you are someone who has a hard time getting past this,
let me teach you how you can change your thought patterns and I will help you to break down
that barrier. Most people tackle this topic thinking of life in generalities. This will lead to an
inability to focus on the specific issues of your life. We need to start by realizing that the more
you think of life in a vague way, the more unsuccessful you are. To transform this approach
start separating life into distinct categories: Financial, Health, Social, Spiritual,
Mental/Emotional, and Career. Think of each category separately; tackle only one at a time.
BY ASKING MORE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS YOU WILL GET MORE SPECIFIC ANSWERS!!
If this is an area of life you need help with, contact me to help you further. In my one-on-
one coaching I take the necessary time to teach you how to go through more in-depth
exercises which will allow you to become much more capable of producing distinct answers.
KEY #2: WRITE IT DOWN (BE SPECIFIC)
When people are thinking of what they want in life and they come up with one or two
answers, most commonly they do not write it down. Do you do this?
If you do fall into this trap, and if you investigated your answer more specifically, you
would realize that your answer was either too vague or not specific enough to take action on
it. Even worse, you may also think about it one day and then forget about it the next. Too
many times people come up with answers to what they want in life but never knowing what
the next step is for them to put their life into action and get what they want.
By writing down what you want in each of the categories previously mentioned you will
start to get a clearer picture of what it is that you truly desire and you will start to see the
possibilities of how to get it. This is an extremely important step. If you haven’t tried this
simple step, do it, and see for yourself the power of it.
You MUST also keep it in a place where you can see it every day so that you can keep it in
front of your mind. If you don’t, we know that most people will just forget about it the
following day, as your life, I am sure, is as busy as mine. It is so important to place it
somewhere where you will see it daily, ie: tape it to your mirror, put it on your dresser in a
certain spot, put in your wallet where you will see it every time you open it, etc.
KEY #3: SET A DEADLINE
By having a deadline set for yourself you will keep yourself accountable. Human nature is
to procrastinate. We must create deadlines to break this possibility of procrastination.
The reality of change is that you must put out some energy and do some kind of work to get
what you want. This is the main reason why most people procrastinate. They may not even
realize that this is what they are doing. They may have all the best intentions of creating a
change in their life but then allow weeks, months, and even years go by without actually doing
anything to create the change.
HAVING A DEADLINE CONNECTED TO A SPECIFIC DESIRE TO CHANGE, CREATES
THE ABILITY TO CREATE ACTION IN YOUR LIFE.
KEY #4: MAKE A LIST OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL
Now since you have a specific goal with a specific deadline, your next step is to break it up
into smaller goals or sub-goals which will result in the achievement of your goal.
Example: My goal is that I want to learn how to play the piano and I have set a deadline of
one year to be able to play a certain tune. My list of everything I need to achieve my goal may
include the following: Piano, piano teacher, music books, time in my schedule to practice and
to take lessons, recordings of piano recitals to listen to repetitively on my iPOD or other
device, it may even include telling someone close to me that this is what I am going to do to
keep me accountable.
Even though some of the sub-goals may be super easy for you to do, you may never
accomplish your desire of playing the piano if you aren’t specific enough to put these simple
accomplishments in the forefront of your brain.
KEY #5: ORGANIZE YOUR LIST INTO A PLAN- BASED ON PRIORITY
This step is also very important. Even though this may seem simple in the case of learning
how to play the piano, you may find that this becomes more involved when you actually start
the process of learning to play the piano. You will also find that with many other aspirations
this becomes crucial, as many other desires may entail a larger, well thought out plan.
Organizing your list is a process you must also keep revisiting while you are in the middle of
achieving your goal as there are commonly curve balls, or unexpected obstacles thrown at you
during your journey.
KEY #6: TAKE MASSIVE ACTION ON YOUR PLAN TODAY!!
Calling yourself to action is critical, but if you do keys 1-5 properly, you will discover that
taking action immediately will become much easier. People usually do not venture into
creating a life change because they have not defined the necessary pathway first.
The steps in keys 1-5 may seem simple at times, but without them you are left with only a
dream that will probably never become reality.
KEY #7: DO SOMETHING EVERYDAY TO MOVE YOU TOWARDS YOUR GOAL
This key is all about realizing that your everyday task to reaching your goal does not have to
be large or energy draining. The most successful people look at the everyday tasks as small,
easy, and not overly time consuming. You must approach your everyday tasks with the idea
that they are small steps and that you don’t have to achieve your whole goal today.
KEY #8: FOCUS ON RESULTS
Most people will usually focus on whether or not they have reached their goal as a macro
topic. For them, there is only the thought pattern that “I have either reached my goal or I
haven’t”. It is important to look at your goal as a journey where you celebrate your small
accomplishments (sub-goals) and enjoy the process instead of getting too wrapped up in the
end result. Celebrating your small accomplishments along the way will also make you feel
good about what you are doing and reinforce your desire to continue.

8 keys to creating the life of our dreams

  • 1. 8 KEYS TO UNLOCKING THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS Most of us travel through life simply hoping that good opportunities will just appear, and that circumstances will line up properly for us so that we can take advantage of these opportunities.
