Introduction
COVID – 19 got on my nerves as early as back in December 2019, because the
epicenter was just 300 miles away from my hometown.
Sensational news surreal detail about the deadly virus developed in late January
it became apparent to many that a pandemic was inevitable. It didn’t just turn out to be
a major disaster that evoked the scars of past decades haunting plagues for people in
the east, but it descended upon the west, where virtually no one alive had ever
witnessed, or even imagined, any scenario of similar extent. The world has been caught
off guard, so have we as life science researchers.
In this spirit, all of a sudden my ever – lingering anxieties about research,
publications and career choices were somehow lifted. I now believe as long as I
continue my work in the field, I will be an integral part of a tedious yet rewarding
mission is to be shared by countless peers with similar aspirations and needs to find
solutions. Now, love it or not, the world has drastically and irreversibly changed. We
as RNA researchers will have to embrace these tremendous challenges and
opportunities, because the world is looking to us.
Body
There is lot of stress in caring for people with COVID – 19.How tough life has
been due to COVID – 19, but what positives can we take from the pandemic and what
has the lockdown taught me? Pouring my heart out here!
As the pandemic caused unprecedented havoc and emotional turmoil, it changed
our lives like never before. I found myself struggling to balance my personal and
professional life. For me, the extended lockdown resulted in sleepless nights and in
additional responsibilities, as these became my “new normal”
I decided that I won’t let all this impact my emotional mental wellbeing, and
made some lifestyles changes. In doing so, I picked some lockdown – friendly
activities. Which have help in maintain my healthy and peaceful life.
Find happiness in the simple things of life:
I learned something new things in cooking , in technology, etc. I
realized the importance of the simple pleasure of life. Spend time with family and
friends and also relatives also play games with relatives & family and have a lot of fun.
Make health a priority:
I started avoiding frozen snakes and also outside food , also junk
food which are sold on the streets and involve our family in household work , have fun
with family. Pick easy and simple exercises , meditation, eat healthy food.
Learning in the lockdown:
I have learned a lots of things like baking, making videos, etc and
many more.
Make Good use of online connect:
Stay connected with our family, relatives and friends and
colleagues. Virtually connecting with study and my teaching work, attended webinars
of different topics for development of new skills and gaining knowledge. All these I
have done to utilized my free time. Which I attended webinars at national and also at
international levels and for some webinars I got certificates also and found a way to a
virtual world.
Conclusion
Take a walk back in time and ask yourself. What did you enjoy while growing
up? What is the one thing you always wanted to learn? The lockdown is the best time
to indulge in your hobbies and pick a new one if you are yet to figure it out.
We have learned some new words which have never heared i.e Quarantine,
Isolation, Be aware , pandemic , lockdown, etc
