Olympic torch relays
Prior to the Chinese earthquake, the Olympic torch relays around the world attracted a great deal of controversy, not to mention coverage on NowPublic. Our coverage was notable for its geographic diversity, and also for the number of Chinese bloggers who contributed and commented throughout its journey.
- Well known San Francisco Twitterer Laughing Squid was among those who contributed photos of the relay there.
- Sanjay went to the Delhi relay from where he reported and took photos.
- Michael Vine in Seoul wrote about his somewhat abortive attempts to witness the relay in South Korea - and he took video. Cynthia also gathered great photos from the demos in South Korea.
- Robert Scales wrote about the difficulties of getting close to the relay in Beijing.
- Teacher Dude in Greece took photos and wrote a report on the torch's progress through Thessaloniki.
- Lots of meta stories too, about the relay, including the rise of Chinese nationalism - in particular instant messenger wars.
