4. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in Photoshop
You can make and small edits you wish to a photo you exported, for example if you exported a
picture with a black background you can easily remove the background using the magic brush
tool.
You can use photoshop for basic editing Is your not familiar with the app and work your way up
experimenting with different tools.
It’s a great way to create posters, or editing pictures ect.
• Disadvantages of working in Photoshop
It can be expensive to use if your using it outside of college, making it harder for some student to
complete certain projects.
May become quite time consuming if your not familiar with certain tools and how they work.
5. Graphic Design Production
Already existing product
My final product
Similarities:
• Santa Claus is featured in both
bottom left hand corners of the
posters.
• The brand coca cola is imbedded
in a circular shape. (i.e bauble)
• Both media pieces include
sparkles to give off that magical
feeling.
• Each material advertises the
newly improved coca cola bottle.
Differences:
• The backgrounds I have used is different to the
already existing products because I've used a
blue background to go with the cold, snowy
Christmas where as the already existing
product has gone with the more traditional
red.
• I've also included the coca cola truck as well as
a slogan where as the pre existing product
hasn’t its very simplistic but effective.
6. Graphic Design Production 1. Strength:
I've grasped the basics of
photoshop and used those skills
to produce my poster for example
I’ve magic wand tool to delete any
background I didn’t need.
1. Weakness:
I think my images are placed
slightly at random making
my product look less
professional.
What I could change:
I could made my images flow a lot
better for example I could of
photoshopped the coca cola bottle a
lot better and made it look like he's
actually holding it instead of just
placed on top.
2. Strength:
Adding a slogan helps me and my
audience understand it’s a
poster/advert for coca cola and the
fact I've added sparkles gives it a
more magical look instead of just
being plain.
What I would change:
Overall I would change where I’ve put
most of my images for example I would
of liked to have the coca cola truck a lot
bigger and been in the back rather than
in the corner and maybe add snow just
to give my audience a better
understanding of what season ive
based my product around (winter).
8. Radio Production Experiments
I wake up in the morning at around 7am to my alarm (alarm noise)
I then go do my skin care routine and brush my teeth before heading
downstairs to turn on the tv and put on any show to wake me up (tv
show noise). After watching a bit of tv I head to the kitchen where
I’m greeted by my dog, I say hello and then proceed to make myself
some breakfast(cereal noises).
I then head back into the living room and carry on watching tv(more
tv noises). Once I am done I head back upstairs to get ready and then
I head out the door to carry out my daily activates.
9. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in Premiere Pro
Multiple audio tracks can be placed into the editing bar and edited either by
overlapping, trimming or rearranging. This also work with editing videos.
You can cut and place different audios from different places and make one unique audio. And its
easy to share your work with other, for example teachers, presenters or advertisers.
• Disadvantages of working in Premiere Pro
Again its more expensive than other radio/video editing software that can be used.
Its visually noisy which might be a learning curve for beginners if help by tutorial isn’t
given first to help students grasp the overall idea on how to use the app.
10. Radio Production
My radio advert,
advertising coca
cola with a
Halloween twist.
https://youtu.be/o2ju1b6zBPI
Already existing radio advert on
Halloween movies.
Similarities:
• There both about things related to
Halloween or normal everyday items that
have had a Halloween twist put to them.
• Both family and friends can enjoy what their
advertising.
• Both products have the laughing at the end
which to me makes it that much more
chilling and eerie to listen to.
Differences:
• There both obviously different, mine
being about coca cola and the other
about horror films.
• In mine I’ve added werewolves and evil
laughing where as the already existing
product focuses there more around
the chilling music.
• I feel mine is more suited to a much
wider audience because its a lot more
calm oppose to the other which is
more chilling and scary and the fact
that their advertising horror films
directs this advert to the much older
audience as kids might find it to scary
to listen to.
11. Radio Production
First I imported the sounds I
wanted to use. And they
appear in the bottom left
corner.
I then dragged the sounds over to the
editing bar. This is where I cut them down
to were I want them and place them where
I want them as well. Some are overlapped
and some had excess audio so I just cut
them down.
Strengths:
I’d say that my strengths were being
able to use premier pro and picking
up how to use it as well. Also because
I’ve never used premier pro, I’m quite
proud of the outcome.
Weaknesses:
I would of liked to have put more
effort into my voice audio I put in
because then it would of changed the
whole atmosphere of it and in my
opinion made it better.
14. Advergame Production
• Advantages of working in Photoshop
Its an easy software to follow once you get used to where everything is and what is
does, it also allows you do more complex designs if you were to do so.
Its good for practicing drawing in pixels which was needed for my work.
• Disadvantages of working in Photoshop
This software is expensive and can be time consuming if you product is big and
invloves a lot of detail.
Some features that are displayed might only be accessed by buying the pro version
which might set back your progression in your work.
15. Advergame Production
Similarities:
• Both games have the same layout
design.
• Their both platform games.
• Both of these games have the same
idea, a character has to collect items
whether that’s bottle caps or gems to
reach their goal while on the way
avoiding obstacles.
• There both suitable for a young
audience because their friendly and
inviting which can get the player
comfortable to play.
Coca cola advergame
Niwashi kid platform
game
Differences:
• Once difference between my advergame and the already
existing game is that mine is advertising a well known
brand called coca cola whereas the other is just a fun
games for kids to play with no real purpose apart from
entertaining children.
• The coca cola advergame is a lot more simplistic that
Niwashi kid. Maybe because the creator of Niwashi kid had
more time on their hands or its what they do for a living
where as my advergame is missing bits such as the number
of how many bottle caps have been collected, life bar that
goes up or down depending on how many times my
character hits the rocks.
• Also the advergame runs a lot quicker than the already
existing, again because the creator has had more time to
fully go through the game and make sure its running
smoothly.
16. Advergame Production
I’ve created my layers
that have all the
different components
that I will later decide
if I want them to move
or not.
Also I used a variety of
tool along the left
hand side to cut out, or
move or change the
size, so they all fit in
place on the page.
Strengths:
Everything is pretty detailed
for my first time making a
game on photoshop, so that
I’m proud of. Also the fact I
learnt a new skill of how to
move the rocks up and down
as if their in the water and
how to make the bottle caps
disappear when my character
moves past them.
Weaknesses:
• There’s not much going on
in the background.
• I would of liked to have
added a life line and
number of bottle caps
collected.
• Also include a prize on the
hill as the finishing point
• Also the coca cola logo in
the back ground.
18. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the
product the best? Why?
I believe that the advergame is the best way to advertise the product because it allows the
audience/viewer to understand what its advertising without directly telling them in a poster or
listening through a radio advert which doesn’t always tell you directly.
This way the viewer can interact and be more involved because they can play the mini game that
is based around the product you'r advertising.
• Which of your products is the most
professional? Why?
I believe my radio advert is the most professional avenue because a lot of people
around the world listen to the radio so by creating a radio advert about a popular
brand, it will most likley be heard by many around the world, getting more popularity.
19. Reflective Triangle
Write down one key
thing you have learnt
from this project
Write down two
things you would do
differently if you were
to do this project
again and how you
would do that.
Write down three
things you still need
to develop your
understanding on or
skills within.
With my radio advert I
would search for better
audios and blend them
together better to create a
better flow.
Through these projects I
have learnt how to uses
different softweres that I
haven't used before like
photoshop and premier
pro.
I would also of liked to have
spent more time on my poster
to make it look more visually
appealing and chnaged my
theme of my poster to
soomething other than
christmas.
I think I still need to develop
my skills with photoshop and
premeire pro, getting a better
understanding on the different
tools and how to use them.
I still need to
practice drawing in
pixils as well as I
think that an are in
which im not so
good at.
I want to get a better
understanding on the importance
of these three experiments to the
media and why they are a key
thing when grabbing an audiences
attention to a product.
