3. What is IOT ?
The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects or "things"
embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network
connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data.
It allows objects to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing
network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more direct
integration between the physical world and computer-based systems,
and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit.

4. How IOT Works ?
Internet of Things is not the result of a single novel technology;
instead, several complementary technical provide capabilities
that taken together help to bridge the gap between the virtual and
Physical world. These capabilities include:
Communication and cooperation
Addressability
Identification
Sensing
Actuation
Embedded information
Localization
User interfaces

5. Some Applications of IOT
Building and Home automation
Manufacturing
Medical and Healthcare systems
Media
Environmental monitoring
Infrastructure management
Energy management
Transportation

6. Embedded System
Embedded means something that is attached to another thing. An
embedded system can be thought of as a computer hardware
system having software embedded in it. An embedded system can
be an independent system or it can be a part of a large system. An
embedded system is a microcontroller or microprocessor based
system which is designed to perform a specific task. For example, a
fire alarm is an embedded system; it will sense only smoke.
An embedded system has three components −
• It has hardware.
• It has application software.
• It has Real Time Operating system (RTOS) that supervises the
application software and provide mechanism to let the processor
run a process as per scheduling by following a plan to control the
latencies. RTOS defines the way the system works. It sets the
rules during the execution of application program. A small scale
embedded system may not have RTOS. 6
7. BLUETOOTH BASED HOME AUTOMATION
USING ARDUINO
“GRAPHIC ERA DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY”
9. ABSTRACT
The main objective of this project is to develop a home
automation system using an Arduino board with Bluetooth
being remotely controlled by Android smart phone.
10. INTRODUCTION
Arduino based home automation using Bluetooth system is
super-cost effective and can give the user, the ability to control
any electronic device without even spending for a remote
control.
This project helps the user to control all the electronic devices
using smartphone.
12. ARDUINO UNO
The Arduino Uno is a type of Arduino board that is provided as an open-
source board that uses an ATmega328p microcontroller in the board.
The Arduino Uno contains a set of analog and digital pins that are input
and output pins which are used to connect the board to other
components. There are a total of fourteen I/O pins placed inboard in
which six are analog input pins. The board has a USB connection that
can be used to a power supply to the board. The board is used for
electronics projects and used to design the circuit.
13. 4 CHANNEL RELAY
• Relay is basically an electromagnetic switch which can be turn on and off by
an applying the voltage across its contacts.
14. BLUETOOTH MODULE HC-05
• For the communication between mobile phone
and microcontroller Bluetooth module(HC-05) is used.
20. CONCLUSION
This home automation makes the system more flexible and
provides attractive user interface compared to other home
automation systems.
In this system we integrate mobile devices into home automation
systems.
